Commercial Description:
This Russian Imperial Stout is an intensely flavorful beer. Chocolaty, roasty, fruity, and bittersweet, with a hidden alcohol presence. This beer was designed to be sipped slowly on a cool evening in a nice cognac glass. Let it warm up to get the full flavor. This beer won Best in Show at the 2005 NJ State Fair when Brian was homebrewing.

Three bottles (12oz each) shared by me and HogTownHarry with GregClow, jerc, mabel & tupalev. Pours black with an average to large size frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with notes of coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, hops, some lactic notes and a roasty dry finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not a world-beater but a good, tasty beer.

On tap at Capones. Pours a deep black with a creamy tan head that left lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chococlate, nuts and light hops. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and nuts...a bit on the thin side for a 10% Imp Stout.

Bottle thanks to my Secret Santa. 12 ozs, and I can hear the song now. Really full bottle filling. Deep brown, near black pour with a hint of a tan head that fades quick. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, and a bit of licorice. Some fusel and earth notes as well. Taste is earthy and a bit bitter with chocolate, dirt and not much else. Some earthy hops and coffee rinds. Not a lot going on, but I must say, the ABV, does hide itself decently. Medium thickness, light brandy alcohol note. Light bubbles. Decent, no more, no less.

In short: Another over-the-top American Imperial Stout. Brutal but enjoyable
How: Bottle 120z, dropped in my cooler by my buddy dmac. Dave’s the man
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is medium roastiness with some alcohol fumes. This beer is big, very big. A shitload of malts, figs and dates flavours, wood coal, tar, burnt toats, alcohol. Moderate sweetness, a bit syrupy. Finish has a strong bite where the alcohol and what appears to be a generous amount of hops. This beer is so big and brutal that I’m left wondering wether or not the name is a figure of speech.

Liquid Sunshine V. 12-oz. Dark ebony with rubied highlights. Headless. Laceless. Nice big roasty chocolate nose. Creamy medium body. Some resiny bitterness shows up on the mid-palate and the finish to balance out the sweetness.

12oz Bottle: Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, chocolate, and hops. Poured light black/very dark brown in color with a small brown head that disappeared quickly. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of roasted malts, piney hops, chocolate, cream, Hershey’s syrup, and slight artificial sweetner. Light to medium body. Thin texture. Soft to average carbonation. Roasty, chocolate and hops finish. Bitter, but I doubt the 100 IBUs claimed.
