3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle split with Andrew and Ryan. Pours a dark hazy, amber body. Aroma is sharp sting of alcohol. Taste is smooth malt, some bread, and toasty flavors.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Nose explodes with jammy fruit, berries above a little caramel and grape plunder, sticky malt with light spice. Some earth and darker, woody toffee, pours a red-tinged mahogany with a short tan head. Watery, fizzy light body, fruit with a little ash and sweet brown sugar. Raisin and caramel, avoids being too airy, touch of pretzel, too, but the main chunk of dark malt is a little dull. Some weight but the alcohol is pretty well hidden, bitterness and tanginess are kept to a minimum. I like whatís here, but a few tweaks to body and malt complexity would shoot easily this up a notch -- feels like a bit of a lightweight at the moment.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle, via BrianK I think. Pours a dark amber to brown body with a small fizzy beige head that vanished rather quickly. The nose is quite odd for a Dubbel, not a whole lot of malty sweetness, esters, and yeast as expected, just a slight garbage juice note, with some minimal dark fruits. The flavor really doesnít resemble a Dubbel either, thereís a good bit of cooked celery and a gritty maltiness that reminds me of rye flour. Thereís a light smoked malt quality to the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly clingy texture and a little too much fizzy carbonation. Overall, not really sure what to think of this beer. Bad bottle, or just a bad beer?

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of caramelized sugar with very subtle fruity ester is OK. Taste is overly sweet for style with notes of caramelized sugar and light dry fruits with some notes of fruity ester. Body is quite full with OK carbonation and no apparent alcohol. This one is kind of average for the style but definitely lacking some of the subtlety that makes dubbel such a great style to being with.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice crisp amber/copper coloured body with muddy ruby tints and a nice one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nice pit fruits, raisins, figs, caramel, hops and a good touch of alcohol polished off by a sniff of oak. Effervescent, medium-bodied; Strong fruity and almost citric taste up front then fades to a nice maltiness, tons of caramel, a touch of nuts and a very light metallic and earthy finish. Aftertaste is fairly mild, perhaps more carbonation in the palate than other dubbels, but the flavour profile is about right. Overall, a good and rather complex dubbel that I was suprised and happy with. Iíd definitely try another one of these, but it seems that itís not available all over the place. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Ramsey Liquors in Ramsey, New Jersey on 19-January-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 01-October-2009.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized creamy tan head. The aroma was cocoa, caramel, molasses and plum. The flavor was tart and tangy with notes of cherry, molasses, nut and sourdough bread. The finish was long, tangy sour caramel and cherry. A bit off in a doughy way. Medium body. Ok.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 26, 2008 12 oz bottle from Oak Tree. Drank out of the Unibrue glass that Jay hooked me up with, thanks Jay. Pours a deep ruby/ brown body with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma of candied sugar, figs, raisins, prunes, sugar, maltiness, brown bread and some more sugar. Medium to full bodied that is nice and creamy with a good touch of carbonation present. flavor is sweet and fruity with notes of fig, raisin, plums and finishes with a touch of srawberry. Great new brewer that I hope makes it because I will drink loads of this beer. PS get some new labels the old ones are uglier then some of my old one night stands.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Pints for Pets. Light grassy and alcohol notes, some yeasty character. Mild hops. Rich deep amber-orange, light haze, topped with creamy-foamy lacing head. Medium body and medium carbonation. Starts sweet with a bit of honey, Belgian yeast, some chalky funk with Beemanís gum. Mild warming. More like a Belgian ale than a Dubbel. Chalky hop bitterness at the finish with a bit of yeasty funk, fruity esters.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Courtesy GodOfThunder. Pours a hazy, reddish chestnut color with a small, foamy, cream colored head. Scattered spots and skinny lines of lacing mark the glass. Aromas include caramel malts, toasted bread, overly ripe apples, raisin, and a hint of peppery cedar. Flavors again show caramel and dark fruit notes, with dry cocoa, floral hops, and a spicy, woody, cedar overtone. Medium bodied and well carbonated, there is a light astringency that comes through on the finish. Not bad overall, but a little on the mundane side.
