Commercial Description:
A Belgian Dubbel, a style that originated in the monasteries in the Middle Ages. This beer is rich, malty and raisiny with a touch of caramel flavor. Being one of our bigger beers this should be enjoyed in moderation.

Contract brewed by High Point for Boak Beverage

Pours deep dark brown,,with a small fizzy tan head. Strong aroma of burnt brown sugar and alcohol. Flavor is mainly of roasted/burnt bready malts, with a slight sweetness, and a hefty doseof booze. Palate is slightly astringent, and a little too hot for only 7.4. Has potential, maybe the next batch will be a bit more balanced.

pours dark amber/brown with thin white head. Faint fruity/belgian yeast aroma, some hops coming through. Flavor is smokey and dry for a dubbel, almost roasty. I think this misses the mark as a dubbel but is dead on as an Imperial American brown ale which is how I rate this (Brian you know this game). PS - I’ve had the pleasure of brewing with and tasting one of the original Dubbels from Boaks which was one of the best dubbels I’ve had outside of Belgium. Looking foward to tasting many more great brews from this brewer.

Good sized tan head of varying sized bubbles. Reduces slowly. Weak cola aroma with some roasted malts and bread. Overall, pretty weak. Color is a nice dark mahagony brown. Flavor is slightly tart which does not fit with the style at all. But it is still pretty good tasting though. Chocolaty malts with some vanilla and dark fruit. Oily mouthfeel that fades quickly and leaves little remanents that you actually swallowed anything. An ok dubbel but not really close to the style too much.

This turns out to be a solid double, but not really strong. The flavor is there, it just needs to be kicked up a notch. Mostly vanilla and raisins with a light mouthfeel. Could be better.

Bottle from coldbrewky. Small brown head that fades quickly, little lace. Clear brown color. Nose of dill pickles and light caramel malts. Body is med/light with a light astringency and fairly lifeless. Burnt caramel malt flavors, other off flavors, lightly sweet malts, dusty. Bland malt finish. Obviously a bad bottle, but hey thats what were here for correct?! Thanks Steve!

Bottle. Deep brown color, minimal head dissipates rapidly. Flavor is light bready caramel malts, a bit of yeasty banana esters, candi sugar. Finish is lingering banana bread and a bit of spice. Raisins and ripe fruit also linger in the background. Medium bodied. Solid beer.
