Collaboration with Benelux. This experimental style just shy of a wheat wine is baed on the Belgian-inspired Wit pumped up with all things "huit!" The use of "8" abounds with New Zealand Nelson Sauvin and German Saphire hops added at 8 bitterness units (BU) each at the 88th minute of the kettle boil, with a second dose at the 44th minute. Spiced with Curacao orange peel and coriander.

In short: An overly sweet big spicy (coriander mainly) witbier on steroids. Not my thing.
How: Tap at Three Penny Taproom, Montpelier VT.
The look: Clear blond body topped by a very small white head.
In long: Nose is like a heavy witbier, wheat, bananas, coriander and such. Taste is disappointing, lots and lots of wheat, crunchy cereals, candied fruits, way too much residual sugars, coriander, sugary bananas. Very simple beer, too sweet for me, imho such a high sweetness level just doesn’t work in a wit. This is not easy to drink beer, my glass took forever to finish. There’s nothing wrong with the execution of this beer, it’s just that I find it is a bad idea to crank up a standard witber. I didn’t like it. Considering I like both brewpubs who collaborated to create this beer, I was as disappointed as when I went to a supposedly authentic Ethiopian restaurant and no helicopter dropped any bag of rice on our table.

On tap at the 20th Vermont Brewers Festival. Wheat, oranges, bit of lemon zest, bit of dough, citrus hops, some bananas. Moderate body, mild carbonation, mildy bitter but it grows a tad sweet as it becomes dry as well.

On tap from Farmhouse Tap in Burlington, VT. Nice orange peel, some coriander, some yeast. Aromas have great depth. Alcohol well hidden. Medium body. Lovely beer.

Draught at Farm House Tap and Grill. Gold with amber-orange tint, lace. Wheat nose—bread, biscuit, grass. Flavor is sweet cake, creamy wheat, cloves, banana, solid bitterness works with alcohol to balance. A nice, strong wit.
