3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 deyholla (3527) - Waukesha, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured a near clear clear gold with a slight amber hue and an off-white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a nice pine hop note with some citrus and a bit of a bread backbone. Flavor started with pine and grapefruit, not much other citrus, and just a hint of a bread bone.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a gold color with a good white head and some nice lacing on the way down. The nose brings forward a fair amount of piney hops along with a bit of a citrus presence. Some bready malt in the background. The flavor has a bit of malt as the base but then goes into citrus and pine hops. Nothing too strong, but noticeable. Not quite what I expect from a double IPA. Mouthfeel is medium with a bit of alcohol and a modest bitterness in the finish. Not bad, though not something I would go out of my way for again.

Draft at EBF. Pours a hazy honey golden body with a white head. Very aggressively hopped pine, grassy and bitter hop resins. Bone dry and super bitter. Resinous oily finish, almost like a hop butter liquidized in a glass. Not so much any fruit tones, just so dam bitter and drying. I prefer a fruitier combination of hops but if this is your type of IPA you’d be nose over tail for it.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange/red with a small white head. Aroma of floral hops, citrus, and lots of caramel malt, a small touch of alcohol. Flavor of lots of sweet hoppy notes upfront with a sweet finish and sharp bitterness. Definitely a sweet IIPA, slightly overwhelming.

Draft at the brewpub - Poured a pretty orange-amber in color with a small off-white head. Aroma, as you might expect, was quite hoppy... citrus/grapefruit, pine resin... with just a hint of caramel malts in the background. Flavor was HOPPY... plenty of ctrus/grapefruit and pine. Some caramel malt understructure to provide some reasonable balance to this hop monster. One of my two favorites this night... a really good effort!
