Drank on tap (20 oz) at the brewpub, on July 31, 2011. Golden honey, little head. Aroma of mild barley, sweet Saaz with hints of peaches. Saaz dry taste, hints of peaches and herbs, pleasant herbs bitterness. This beer helped a lot, it was a hot day!

In short: A soft, juicy, fruity beer with a minerals twist. Acceptable.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a very small ring of foam
In long: The light nose is a bit fruity. Taste has some juicy red-fruits (even strawberries), some minerals (almost rust-like), a surprising bitterness that doesn’t feel like a hop bitterness. Carbonation is sparse and the thin body feels a bit juicy. Overall this is not very tasty. Light and easy to drink. Those California Commons are few and far between, I don’t really understand the style, they never excite me, but there’s always a little something “different” about them that makes them enjoyable to a certain degree. But now a days this style is as cool as wearing a beeper.

A golden ale with a thin white head. A biscuitty malt with light berry notes. In mouth, a bitter sweetish malt with oily mouthfeel, metallic notes, medium notes. On tap at VT Brewers Fest, July 17 2010.

(Rating #2533)
