Glouglouburp (1829), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 24, 2007 Clear copper body with almost no head. Very thin body with minimal malt extraction. Pretty much the opposite of what I expect from the genre. On top of being thin the body felt inert with its lifeless carbonation. Rather sweet and fruity. Some sweet cereals with plenty of fruit flavours, plums mainly but also berries and even distant cherries. Bobcat serves a mean spicy chicken. I recommend it. (Rating #981) MartinT (4241), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 16, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Honeyed grain and supporting herbal hops quietly unite in a serene mouthfeel. This Doppelbock fails to render the complexity expected from this style, but it still manages to offer a pleasant malty experience.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the reddish-amber clarity.
-Vague fruitiness latches on the honeyed maltiness.
-The finish does show some of those noble hops, but the sweet malts overshadow them.
-Alcohol does not show up in the flavor profile.
On tap at the brewpub.
