6 ounce draught sample at the Vermont Brewer’s Fest (July 2007). Translucent molasses with little head but some nice lacing.....maple and a bit of roast in the nose, seems like hints of tart wheat which may be out of place but help keep the maple sweetness in check....rather light, sweet but some fairly nice roasty graininess, light chocolate-maple flavors, darkly malty and somewhat chewy mouthfeel.

My Bottom Line:
A timid profile proffers roasting caramel and maple sweetness, but it is marred by floating oxidation. This pint was not in its best form, that’s for sure.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam crowns the browned black.
-The body is relatively well fed.
-Roastiness undermines the sweet flavor profile.
-Roasted malt bitterness may be rendered more apparent by the prevalent oxidation.
-This is really too bad, as the regular Mud Puddle Porter was an undoubtedly competent Porter.
