COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A "season of blackcurrants." This Belgian-inspired farmhouse style is brewed with barely from Belgium, hops from the USA and Germany and yeast. A crips and very dry beer with esters/aromas of earthiness and fruitiness and a subtle tart finish from Vermont-grown blackcurrants.

On tap. Poured a slightly hazy deep ruby amber with a near white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of earthy grains, a bit of yeast and some sweetness, but the currants didn’t really come out. Flavor was similar with the currants lacking. A combination of grain and earthy yeast notes but not much else. Had high hopes for this one but it didn’t come together.

In short: A moderately rustic ale with a blackberry-like fruitiness. Good stuff.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose is fruity and somewhat rustic. Taste starts fruity. The fruit used is blackcurrant but the fruity taste is more like blackberries. The initial fruity taste leads to nice dryness in the finish. The rustic Saison nature does come through despite the fruitiness of the beer. Medium carbonation and body. This was a simple but very pleasant beer. Sometimes it is the little details that can make all the difference. For instance you can plan your saturday in details but if you forget about the wind effect then your presidential assassination attempt will fail. And all your co-workers will laugh at the day after.

(Rating #3121)
