3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 deyholla (3526) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 13, 2011
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured black with a brown head that lasted throughout the beer and laced. Aroma was full of roast with a good amount of coffee and a backing sweet milk chocolate note. Flavor was similar with roast and coffee in the start that mellowed to allowed a sweet milk chocolate finish to come out. Nice and smooth.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a nitro tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor of smooth roasted malt, some chocolate malt. It is a pretty generic dry stout and the mouthfeel becomes tiring after a pint.

Draft at the brewpub - Poured a very dark black/brown with a small tan head. Aroma was strong of dark roasted grains, coffee/espresso and chocolate. Flavor was roasty with plenty of coffee and chocolate. Slightly sour on the finish with lingering astringency. Good one...

(Rating #2530)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4773) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 24, 2009
In short: A nice well malted, well hopped roasted session stout.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost black body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Roasted nose. Body is soft and the earthy cereals gives bring a little peat sensation. The above average roastiness level develops cacao notes. I enjoyed the grassy bitterness that had this green grass type of flavour. Roastiness and bitterness come together for a medium dry finish that makes you immediately want to go for another sip. This is a beer that begs to be drank like begs for more after we have sex. Two minutes doesn’t seem to be enough for her.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 josarah (109) - Hinesburg, Vermont, USA - MAR 30, 2008
Draft at brewpub, hop fragrance with a light brown head. Tasty was dry and slightly bitter. Paired very well with roasted root vegetables.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 1, 2005
The Lure: The roasted top of a crème brûlée spreads over a blackberry port wine influence, all in a dark brown/vermillion dress.
The Festivities: Pleasant roasted malt bitterness is diversified by a drop of milk and evasive brown rum. Somewhat dry yet watery, maybe a bit too light-bodied and drinkable to be what I look for in a stout.
Transcendence: Gentle strolls over the same smooth hill.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Draft, July 03. See my review of the same brewer's Old Ale; this is a place well off the beaten track that should be on your short list if you're ever in N. Vermont. This dry stout is certainly one of the best I've had, acerbic and bitter, thick and roasty, peaty to the nose and place as pitch.
