Is the Munich Black, a beer created in 1888 following the ancient Munich tradition. It is distinguished by its intense toasted flavour with a sligthly sweet final touch, an equilibrated beer without the excessive bitterness that other beers of its category have.

smooth looking cream-tan colored head. deep amber color. smells kind of plain, like dry oatmeal, with a sugary sweetness. taste like creamy bark, with a dry, hoppy aftertaste. if looks were all that mattered, this beer would be better.

A Mes rate: can drunk while sat in our appartment in Barca. Dark malt, plenty of in the aroma. Slight card but it’s offset by some decent caramel notes. Dark red brown colour with a good tan head. The flavour is pretty much as the nose really. Slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. Nothing special.

0.33 l can brought from Barcelona by a friend, thanks Mike! My first rating of this style. Poured dark reddish-brown body with with smaller brownish head that went down quite soon. Weak lagerish nose with some caramel. Slightly sweetish caramel flavor as well, just a hint of metallicity. It also has some strange, but not prominent sourness I would compare to coffee...but not exactly. Finish is fine, medium-long. A faint touch of alcohol felt here as well. Not bad but pretty boring, like a less sweet dunkel. I feel like this style has much more to offer.

0.33l can courtesy of and shared with heavy (thanks!)
Poured a lovely dark ruby-brown colour with a small but persistent off white head. Dusty nose, notes of alcohol and caramel. Taste... a caramelly sweetness surrounded by light sourness... lightly vinuous and appley, maybe some alcohol. A low quality dark.

Lubiere (10453) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 2, 2008
A clear dark reddish brown lager with a thick frothy light moka head, collapsing quickly. A light caramelly and biscuitty malt. In mouth, a nuttier and more biscuitty version of Voll Damm, with treacle, and light metallic hops. Overall, a very honest schwarzbier. Tasted mid Nov. 2006.
