Is the Munich Black, a beer created in 1888 following the ancient Munich tradition. It is distinguished by its intense toasted flavour with a sligthly sweet final touch, an equilibrated beer without the excessive bitterness that other beers of its category have.

Grey’ish moderate head, clear medium brown body with dark ruby tones, lacing’s gone. Aroma; hazelnuts, dust. Taste; dark malts, dark bread, nutty style, notes of wood. Feels normal bodied, softly carbonated. Overall; nice evening sipper, with nuts or fruits within reach. [25cl br btl, abv5.4%, BB06.15, B@Vinmonopolet Tromsdalen]

It might be a strong beer for Spain - but it’s light for a Bock. Will this work? Well, the malty aroma of roasted coffee beans and a slight sour side note are very nice. The hops are there, but you need to concentrate to find them, a slight bitterness stays on the palate, but the finish is is quite short and the body too light for a Bock. It’s more refreshing than warming. I would classify this beer more as a German Schwarzbier than as a Bock. Still it’s nice and drinkable. Not bad. But not a Bock either.

Rood zwarte kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt zoet, chocolade. Niet zo sterke geur. Smaakt zoetig, chocolade.

Bottle as a road soda. Stays in the bottle with no head. Because it’s in the bottle. Aroma of malt, sweet dried fruit, overripe dark fruit and caramel. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Alcool banal. Finale nulle. CONCLUSION : cette bière est travaillée depuis 1888 !!! A mon avis, il faut encore au moins un siècle pour qu’elle soit à 1 sur 5 ...

33cl can. Pours dark reddish brown with one finger of beige head. Almost no aroma, very light taste of roasted malts and caramel. Very light bitterness. Better than the usual estrella you can find everywhere in Barcelona.

Poured from a cute little 250ml bottle ordered through Vinmonopolet Bestillingsutvalget. Firm, bubbly, tan-coloured head slowly reduced to a layer. Crocheted lacing to the glassware. Clear dark ruby coloured body.Mild taste of dark malts and dark fruits. Dark caramel taste followed by dark fruity hints towards the ending. Semi-sweet ending and that’s it. So and so (Friday eve at home, Tromsø 05.09.2014).
