COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: ABV ranges up to 6%.

Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a bottom-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Head: not like the picture, that’s for sure. Thin, disappears quickly, about a pinky’s width, like the foam you get from pissing vigorously. Color: very nice, beautiful deep mahogany. Bright. Aroma: weak, tart and slightly sweet. Could improve in this category. Flavor: sour cherries. Rather one-dimensional. Nice balance with sweetness but could use more complexity. Oerbier kicks this beer’s butt. Nice on a hot day. Beats Bud by a longshot. Body: a little thin. This beer is much more quaffable than it appears. Great label.

No head, the pic on the left is lying to you. Color is a nice dark red. Aroma is slightly sweet with some viniger elements. Light on the front of the tongue, pretty light body. Taste is tart and a little sweet. Nice balance. Sour on the way down and in the finish. Drinkable.

Tart, fruity aroma evident upon the pour. Rich, deep red body topped with a thin white head. Surprisingly thin body; the flavor starts tart, sour, and fruity (cherry and a touch of apple) but has no staying power. Otherwise has a decent mouthfeel, but I was recently spoiled by De Dolle Oerbier Reserva, and this doesn't come close to matching the brilliance of that brew.

I'm not crazy about this Flemish Sour Ale . Fruity, sweet, tart and sour. Finishes bland, sour, and some what fruity.

Dark amber color,Tall head that lasted for some time then faded to a nice lace. The aroma was mildly fruity but fairly sour and lightly sweet with a few other notes in there that are hard to describe. The taste was light malt, fruity and very sour with a light sweet tone coming through, but not enough for me.The sourness seems to hang on for some time with this one.The finish is sour and mildly fruity. This was a decent brew but IMO i don't think i would like trying another in this style for awhile.I can definately see my stomach starting to turn after having more then one of these bad boys.Still it was worth a try and i would recommend at least that.

A deep reddish content mixed with some hazel stain. Has some powerful acidic aromatic qualities which tend to dominate much of the flavor especially as the glass empties.
