3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a crystal clear reddish brown with head vanishing quickly. Aroma is mild funk, vinegar, caramel and subtle dark fruits. Taste is slightly pear like, caramel, some sourness and dark fruit. Lively mouthfeel with very little carbonation. Good, pleasant but not mind blowing.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 bottle- Pours hazy dark red with a two finger light tan head and a tornado of carbonation bubbles. Aroma is a little funk, a little skunk, pretty subdued unfortunately. The taste is real mellow, light on the sour scale, small amounts of dark fruits, real easy drinking. If there were a sessionable Belgian sour I guess this is it, if not for the pricetag of course. Enjoyable, but was hoping it would be more complex.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Random pick off the shelf this week. Pours a tan, less than average head. About 25 on the SRM scale. Nice color! The lace stuck to the side of the glass like glue, very impressive. The label claimed aroma of cherry and raisins, honestly I didn’t pick up the raisins but I don’t have the best trained nose. Earthy and tart to me. Those same aromas were reflected in the taste. I like sour beers so I may be partial to this one. It was pretty good. Mouthfeel was smooth, lingering tartness that makes the back of your mouth pucker. I would recommend and think it would pair well with grilled pork chops.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
250mL bottle, pours a very deep dark maroon / brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out slightly tart dark fruits, some slight vinegary tones, and a little funk - not the most aromatic beer though. Flavour brings out caramel malts, dark fruits with an every so subtle tartness, prominent oak barrel presence, and some residual sweetness. Not very tart at all, nor do I detect any lambic-like qualities. Not the most complex Flanders brown, but well-enough brewed to be enjoyable. Solid.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small bottle from Liquor Barn in North Burnaby. Generous tan head on a dark reddish brown beer. Fruity on the nose. In the mouth it’s a milder sour ale. A big sour ale would be one like Storm Imperial Flanders Red, which I find a bit too heavy on the sour side, except to sip tweenst other beers. Nice!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Asahiya. Nose of mulled wine, with light vinegar and a bit of funk. Slick, near oily, surface. Dark tea color. Tart fruity initial, with berries and sour apple / turns more sour in mid palate. Minimal hop presence until the very end. Medium body, astringent. Very nice. Doesn’t go too far with the pucker factor.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at craft ale house. Pours reddish brown with a small off white head. The aroma has tart cherries, slight vinegar, fairly sweet finish. The taste is sweet cherry, tart cherry overtakes, finishes with a slightly vinegar note. I dig it.
