COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: ABV ranges up to 6%.

Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a bottom-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Really balanced sour brown - nice tart cherry/apple, not extremely lingering. Could use a little more meat to the mouthfeel.

bottle at l’autre oeil, aylmer - labelled as ’’vanderghinste’’. slightly hazy copper with a minimal light beige head, some retention. woodsy and earthy, light acidity - mostly lactic, cherries and red fruity tartness, some sweetness, bit of spices, dry caramel and nuts. soft carbonation, light body - oily, decent grassy-spicy finish. linear and a bit sweet, but still enjoyable.

Frisse afdronk. Wat pittige nasmaak. Heel lekkere Oud Bruin!

Bottle shared at a sour tasting at Noam’s office. Reddish brown. Sweet aroma of caramel, cherries and a bit of oak. Sweetish and slightly sourish flavor, a bit sugary, with a bit of malt and fruitiness. Light to medium-bodied.

Dark red in color and small bubbles lead to 1cm head that sticks around. Nose has sour aroma like apple cider. On the palate, it is nice and sour. It doesn’t taste "funky" and to me has a lager-like flavor.

bottle labelled Vanderghinste Oud Bruin, courtesy of pivnizub. Deep brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Pleasant aroma. Sour but not unpleasant, fruity with hints of caramel and some sweetness.

For Walt. Pouirs a decent amber brown with a nose of leathery cherry blanket and tart pastry. Flavor is tart barn blanket with cherry leather. Average mouthfeel. Meh. Just like Walt’s lovemaking. Miss ya, bro.

Faint smell of burnt caramel. Hint of something sour. Looks amazing reddish dark brown. Taste is refreshing bitterness and followed by a round caramel taste. A perfect afterdinner beer, well balanced between the sweet and sour. Could be a nice session beer, delightful to drink:) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
