COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: ABV ranges up to 6%.

Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a bottom-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Trocken, wenig malzig. Laff. 11/8/7/8//7

Have to admit I am rather enjoying this. Good sourness followed by a chalky softness. Interesting style. Tap at De Pintelier in Groningen.

Pours a deep ruby brown with an off white head. Tart, cherry and malt aroma. Tart, cherry, raspberry, malt, caramel and oak flavors. Medium light body and average carbonation. On the sweeter side, very candylike. Cherry and tart finish.

Nice sweet caramel malt bodies, slightly sour leads to a sweetness, less fruity than others.

Nice aroma and good flavor up front. Finishes like a bland sweet porter. Initial taste is tart fruit, maybe cherry. Not super sour, but at least not a sweet beer. Trailing sweetness is disconcerting and unnatural.

redish brown colour with a nice white head, light sweet and medium sour at the same time. Medium body. Very refreshing and a absolute lovely beer. Try it is my advice.

11.2 oz bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a hazy dark amberish brown with light caramel head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells semi-sweet and malty with notes of cherry and oak, as well as a bit of mild funk and tartness. Tastes like it smells with more caramel than candy; still a touch though. Average on the palate with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Good, not great.
