Originally called "Ouden Tripel", this ancient West Flanders Brown beer has found a new élan as a regional specialty under its current name: "Bellegems bruin". The main ingredients of our Bellegems Bruin are malted barley, wheat, hops, water, and caramelized malts. These are used to brew a top-fermented beer. Blending this beer with lambic beer aged in oak for 18 months results in this specific West Flanders Brown beer. Its typical flavour is characterized by a well-balanced, hardly noticeable sourness. This first flavour impression is soon followed by a second pleasant discovery: a slight bitterness followed by a hint of sweetness.

Flaske kjøpt på polet i vika. Mørk rødaktig farge med beskjedent skum. En merkelig øl som overrasker. Smaker karamell, malt går deretter over i en behagelig sur smak av rips, kirsebær,druestein.frisk smak

Shared, distributor rep donated to the session, 11.2 oz. bottle, poured to snifters showing a clear, ruby highlighted, brown tone, with a modest layer of bubbly, off white head foam, and light spots of lacing. The nose was lightly earthy & barnyard-like, then sweet, with cherries, and a hint of vanilla. Light to medium bodied, with good spritz to the carbonation, the taste followed sweet, yet nicely tart, with low, earthy bitterness. Fairly balanced as a decent Flemish Sour.

Bottle @ home. Ramato carico, decisi riflessi rubino, limpida. Schiuma beige grossolana, scarsa e poco persistente.

Roodbruin bier zonder schuim. Smaak is fris zuur en licht zoet met iets van bessen, bramen en sinaasappel. Volgens etiket is dit geen Oudbruin maar Roodbruin - Flemish Sour Ale hetgeen overeenkomt met de stijl. Al met al goed bier.

The aroma of the cellar and sour berries. The taste is quite similar might be a bit more acidic flavor. OK bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth briefly. Okay beer though it tastes basement. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Aroma is kinda rustic, with old attic dust and cellar moist. Slight vinegar and red berries with wet wood. Taste is tart berries mixed with a rather sweet base blend. Wet wood notes, green grapes, some raisins and a slight grainy mouthfeel. Well, it’s not overly sour and quite balanced, but that also makes it kinda anonymous and one dimensional.
