Bottle from Continente, Algarveshopping. Pours redish brown with a huge head that lasts. The aroma is candied fruit, funky yeast, some roast and some chocolate. The taste is rather short but follows through on the fruit theme, although more sugar and malt is present. Very short aftertaste, however. Nice beer, a very good representative of the type, and dangerous as it doesn’t give away the 8.5% ABV in the taste at all.

Bottle (bb 23/10/17). Pours reddish brown with a quite large beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruits, raisins, hint of metallic. Taste is over moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter, dark fruits, sweet malts, toffee, warming alcohol in the aftertaste. Not bad.

Review based on the BJCP2015 (style 26D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: medium-high caramelized fruit aroma with notes of pear drops, complemented by a perfumy flower-like alcohol presence. very faint toasty malt presence. APPEARANCE: deep amber color with a reddish hue and clear. large and dense, tanned head with good retention and lace formation. TASTE: similar to the aroma with moderate pear drop flavor, rose-like alcohol and a cramelized malt background. medium-low bitterness with an almost dry finish. malt balanced. PALATE: medium-high carbonation with medium body. OVERALL: a dark belgian strong ale with a nice and different character.
