COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Une belle couleur ambrée avec des reflets rouges. En bouche une acidité maîtrisée accompagnée d’un fruité assez rond. Toujours en bouche un côté vineux présent assez longtemps.

Bottle: Chesnut color. Toffee froth that dissipates. Sour nose but loads of richness and fruit. Cherry, glazed and dried fruit. Malt. Old oak. Spice. Touch of Brett and obviously VA but relatively clean. Cold black tea. Medium sweet, low bitterness and moderate to high level of sourness. It is balanced and clean. Medium weight. Long . Rich complexed bright. A bloody good beer.

Pours a clear dark red colour with a beige head. Aroma is malt, fruit, citrus, yeast, vanilla and some woody notes. Taste is sour fruit with some woody notes leading to a tart finish. Awesome!

Smaker surt og har mye kullsyre, ingen ny favoritt akkurat. Litt artig, men mest rar.

Pours a red purple beer with a not very long lasting white head. Smells berry and cherry. Heavy sour. Nice. Average carbo, thin body and a sticky texture. I might find this one too sour. But overall a good beer.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2014 Deep red. Aroma is a sour smell. Taste is sour sweet in balance, zing, lovely and drinkable. Palate is clean with a lingering sherbert. Overall, great malty sour here.

On draught at the Blind Tiger. Arrived a deep lightly hazed red with a thin off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left light lace. Very pleasant aroma of mild wine vinegar, malt, cherry and oak. The flavor is sour but not excessively so and is complimented well by some lovely malt, cherry, and oak. Bright, well rounded and luxurious on the palate. Excellent.

Has a good tart aroma with a pretty sour taste. Not much to the taste besides sour, but it’s really good.

[bottle from LCBO] Sour, vinegary aroma with a little pickle juice and ethyl acetate and lots of fruits; complex. Crystal clear mahogany under a lacy, off-white, shiny cover. Sour flavour up front with a touch of vinegar and then cherries as well as some red life savers. A touch of sweetness follows the sour, that may be a bit of back sweetening--hard to tell for sure. Complex fruity accents include sour grapes. Light body, moderate carbonation, mouth watering sour finish.
