4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle from the lcbo. Pours deep red with a lasting off white head. A stunningly complex and refined sour ale. I’ll be back for more and make additional comments but the is edging toward perfection the more I drink.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brown/reddish shiny pour. Almost no head. Aroma is sour cherrys. Taste is both sour and sweet. Taste is too complex for my humble tongue to comment on, but it’s one of the best sour ales I’ve tried.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 mL bottle. (bb 06 02 15). Clear reddish brown with very little head, which seems to be fairly typical from what I’ve seen. Lots going on in the aroma, especially in terms of fruit flavours. The flavour is a little more reserved, though. Nothing particularly stands out; it’s just very pleasant and drinkable. Well constructed. I dinno. Maybe I just don’t know enough about the style.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a tulip. The number "01" was printed on the back label, but I don’t know what it means.
3.5 A: Nearly clear burgundy color. Short beige head came and fell quickly.
4.25 S: The nose on this is extemely well balanced. Great mix of fruity, earthy, and sour. Cherry and mixed berry start things off with toasted malts and a rotting wood funkiness not far behind. Acetic and lactic acid in good proportion to the other aromas.
4.5 T: Taste is even better than the nose. Like the nose, the flavor profile is completely balanced to the point of perfection. Sour tinge that gets your attention, but doesn’t block out other flavors. Fruity cherry and berry via lactic acid. Toasty malts with a light caramel sweetness. Rotting wood and basement type funk and oak from the barrel.
4.0 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Good moderate carbonation, which falls midway between spritzy and bity. Light pucker on finish.
5.0 D: Easily in my top five most drinkable sours. It’s not the most flavorful, but it is perfectly capable to keeping my taste buds entertained. The beauty of this beer is that I keep wanting more well after I finish my last sip.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great balance here. Nice sour plum and cherry aroma. Finishes sour but abrupt - nice effect at the end. Pours red with decent head and lacing. Soft carbonation. On tap at Blue Monk.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at Hopleaf. Pours dark reddish brown with a thin tan soapy head. Really nice looking beer. Aromas of cherries, vanilla and wood. Taste is foremost cherries but there’s a pervading vanilla sweetness with other notes of sweet fruit and a funky woodiness. This beer is incredibly well balanced and has a great finish; bright and sour. I really enjoyed this beer.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Probably my favorite sour. It tastes like a bunch of sour gummy bears. Probably the most sour beer I’ve had but also one of the best.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 ounce bottle purchased a year ago at Bine & Vine ($5.99). Pours a really nice clear garnet hue with one finger of fizzy grey-khaki foam that quickly reduces to nothing. Aroma of raspberry vinaigrette, spicy soy sauce, tart cherry, and a mild woody funk. Flavor of oaky red wine, tart cherry, tart raspberry, tart cranberry, vinegar, sweet-sour green apple Jolly Rancher, and a bit of caramel. Overall, the tartness beats out the sweetness by a fair margin. Semi-dry finish with lingering fruity sourness. Not to the level of Consecration or Duchesse (correlation with ABV?...this is rather low alcohol), but still a fine representative of the style. (514, 791)
