The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

On tap at trio on the outer banks in North Carolina it is an amber color with a slight head. The aroma is sour cherry and the taste is a strong sour flour that finishes like a tart green apple Not bad since I am not a fan of sour beers

Medium Dark Reddish color and nearly clear with a little head. Strong cherry aroma. Cherry less noticeable in the flavor but still there. This is a sour beer for people who like sour.

Brownish red colour, low crown. Sour, winelike smell. Pleasant feel, much taste of red currant, wine, green Apples. A bit of vinegar, but well balanced. Nice, lasting aftertaste of vinegar and currants. Very pleasant with and after good food, or desserts.

The smell is sour and berries. The flavor is citrus, berries and some sweetness. Good bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the front of the mouth forever. Not so hard to be a sour beer. More right, I think. Good anyway. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
