Draft at the Three Penny Taproom - Poured a cloudy dark reddish-brown in color with a decent sized light tan head that produced some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is tart/acidic with plenty of light fruits (grape, cherry, apple). Flavor is medium sour with lots of fruit... mixed bag of flavors in here... cherry, apple, lemon/citrus. Finish is short and very clean. Really good.

From tap at Monks Kettle. Pours dark redish with a small off-white head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark cherry fruity and light acetone to dry phenolic. Sour, dry and slight wooden touch. Citric andcherry fruity. Lingering citric and fruity into a dry and mild fruity finish.

Tap at Max’s Belgian Fest 2010. Pours a nice deep reddish copper with a fizzy head fades to nothing. Aroma is nicely fruity, prickly sharp acid, big sharp cherry pit and black cherry, fruity and big caramel malts that have turned to aceto. Flavor is lightly prickly upfront then gets more acidic in the back- lots of acetobacter, some cherry pie, pitty, tannic, cyanide, mineral, sharp overall very clean and somewhat easy to drink- although a lot of aceto prickliness. Very nice.

Slightly opaque red tinted brown pour with a thin white head. Fruity grape aroma. Sweet with a good deal of tartness. Smooth and easy to drink. Very enjoyable though a bit too much syrupy sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It’s a bit too sweet, but it does have a nice tartness and the fruit is extremely bright and delicious. Sparkling carbonation keeps the beer from being too heavy. If I had to compare it to anything, I’d say it’s an improved version of the Lindemans.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours rusty copper in the glass, fluffy white head. Beautiful tart aroma, reminds me of its half-brother. Similar bracing tart foundation as the Ommegang Rouge, but this beer replaces some of the dry oak with what reminds me of saccharin and it pulls me out of the transcendent experience I’ve had and returned for. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very good sour, I’m just left wanting more.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2010 Tap at Malt and Vine. Pours slightly reddish brown with a small white head on it. Aroma is sharply sour, vinegary, and lemony. Pretty puckering flavorwise, with more bright lemon and a touch of balsamic vinegar. Good cherry, apple, and berry notes. Little bit of wood and earth on the finish. Good amount of carbonation to it and a fairly full mouthfeel.
