COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Bottle - Pours deep ruby red with a thin light tan ring of head. Dried cherries, white grape, some Turkish apricot, and some sour SweetTart notes. Very smooth. The taste...holy hell is this good. Big sour cherries, Smarties, vanilla, and a lots of bracing vinegar sourness. Finishes with big time Smarties and cherry. Both puckering and smooth on the finish, if that makes any sense. Wonderfully silky smooth palate, probably due to the fine-bubbled carbonation. Oh my God I love this beer.

Love this beer! Pours dark ruby brown with an off white head. Tart cherries on the nose. Tart cherry flavor throughout, yet deliciously bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl Bottle at Lost Property. Clear deep red to purple colour, off white head. Aroma of balsamic vinegar, cinnamon, tart red fruits, red grape juice, vanilla, you can tell there’s lambic in there. Flavour is rather tart at first, red fruits, sour lemon, red grapes, very vineous, light vanilla and cinnamon, tart fruity finish. Light bodied. Very tasty Flemish Red.

Draft. Enticingly tart, gently sweet and fruity aroma, lightly acetic and woody, with notes of cherry and red grape, some definite yeast funk is present here as well. Deep, dark red in color, clear, with a lasting, fine head. Flavor profile is fruity and features a strong degree of sourness throughout, tannic, dry, oaky and with a brief flash of sweetness, more yeast funkiness and farmy character appearing as well. Somewhat winey finish. "Warms" the mouth, with a sufficiently sharp, acidic bite, active on the palate, body is medium. Incredibly flavorful and complex, also stunningly sour. Wow, this was delicious.

Reddish brown pour, mostly white head. Nice tart red wine vinegar, wet wood, some light fruit. Flavors are incredibly well integrated. Loads of balsamic notes, red wine, sour fruit. Incredible.

Pours a dark reddish amber with a light beige head. Extremely potent aroma. Enticing as well. Very, very sour and tart, with grape, cherry, and apple. Taste is so sour it made my mouth pucker! Cherry and apple come out the most, grape is still there, with vanilla notes underneath. This is quite oily and sticky when you drink it. Carbonation is softer, yet is easily apparent. And needless to say the aftertaste is strongly sour and tart. It lingers a long time also. I must say that this is the most extreme example of this this style that I have ever tasted. If you like these, you will be thrilled. I am beside myself that I have found something this delicious.

I’m not usually a fan of this style - but I was impressed here. The body was a very nice and clean ruby red with light bubbles. The aroma filled your face with rich cherries, cocoa and earth - a lot like a bold red wine. The taste was as sush, but with a distinctive tart finished followed by a lingering yeast aftertaste. Nicely done.
