COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Brownish red colored pour. Nary a head and no lacing to be found anywhere. Acetic, sour fruit notes in the nose. Very tart bite up front. Nice sourness mixed with a slightly fruity note. Not bad. Would drink again.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 22.06.16, from Alko, 20160722) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized, nearly white and it lasted long. Aroma had malts, berries, wood and tartness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were sourness, tartness, berries, malts, cherries, wood and bitterness. Aftertaste was tart and bitter. A good sour and tart brew.

330mk bottle from Park Royal. Pours a dark reddish copper with a tan head. Aroma is sour with cherries and oak notes. Taste is tart, dry, sour, cherry notes. Sour cherries aftertaste. Good beer, but not so full-bodied as other flemish ales.

Super tart sour scent that hits the nose just right. Cloudy reddish brown brew with huge tan head. Rightous sour taste that makes me want to drink more clove and herbs with a touch of something I just can’t put my tougue on yet but like. Medium body with great tart carbonation. Love sours and this just adds to what a sour should be. Nice work!

Aromat intensywny, lekko kwaśny, wiśnie, suszone owoce, drewno, ocet winny, stajnia. Kolor czerwonobrązowy, klarowne. Piana niska, drobnopęcherzykowa, niezbyt trwała, zdobi szkło. W smaku wysoka kwaśność, delikatna słodycz, średnia pełnia, cierpkie, owoce, wiśnie, drewno, wanilia, nuty funky. Goryczka niska, wysycenie niskie. Wow!

Aroma: aroma of grapes, like wine vinegar, acidic. No hops’ aromas. Appearance: great appearance. Beauty deep amber-red-brown color with almost white very creamy thick head. Foam retention above average. Clear liquid. Small to medium lacing. Taste: no sweetness, no bitterness, high sourness. Taste of wine vinegar. Palate: light-to-medium body, watery-to-oily texture, low carbonation, long dry-acidic-vinegar-like finish. The vinegar-like flavor hiddens all the other flavors. Overall: fantastic appearance. The vinegar taste is not one of my favorites neither can be this beer. But it’s fresh and thirst quenching. Probably it nails the style but my low score is because i don’t like that kind of flavors.

11.2 ounce bottle. Pours a nice reddish brown with a thin tan head that lasts. Taste is of tart cherries, wood, apples and a lot of sour. Aroma of apples and cherries. Has a mostly full body with a tart and sour finish. Honestly, can be quite shocking at first, but as I drank it the layers unfold and it became quite an enjoyable experience.
