COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Such an enjoyable sour ale. Amazing sweet/sour balance of flavor. Rich orange candied sour notes that seem to continue forever. Dark cherry notes with some vanilla on the finish. Really good. Highly recommended.

Bottle - 330ml. Dark copper body with ruby glints and an average off-white foamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with fruity and oaky hints. Its robust sour taste carries fruity and woody notes. Ends with a long, strong sour finish. Awesome Flemish Ale.

Draft to taster at craft and social pour dark copper with thin white head. Nose sweet malt and moderate tart sour. Taste tart sour up front, then sweet malt. Mostly reasonable sour.

Real ’Oud Bruin’... almost perfect!! Nice head, perfect colour, incredible nose, ... full strength tartness, perfect carbonation, hint of vanilla, nice blend of sour cherries and wood tannins in the mouthfeel... Has all the characteristics of a flemish sour ale... Lacking a little bit of depth and fullness to its’ taste but otherwise... no comments. A 4 star beer in my book for sure!!

Pours reddish amber with a small beige head. The aroma has cherries, vinegar, cream, lemons, vanilla, mild oak and some smooth malt. It has a fairly light body with a crisp bite and some mild carbonation. The flavor starts with sharp berries, strawberries, cherries, oak, peppery spice, lemon acidity and mild apple cider vinegar. All of that is offset with smooth malt, oak and vanilla. The finish keeps the nice balance with the pepper, acidity and cherries staying up in the front. Excellent.

330ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Deep amber in colour with a thin off white head, good lacing. The aroma is of cherries, wood, a bit of vanilla. The flavour is of tart cherries, berries, wood, acidic. Finishes long, some sweetness turning tart. Very good.

Bottle at home. Pours a murky brown with light brown head that fades quickly. Aroma is complex, leather, dried fruit, faint tart apples and wood. Taste is cherry, tart Apple, moderately sour, faint vanilla. Pleasant aftertaste. Medium body, full carbonation, a bit of effervescent feel. Moderate acidity. Very nice beer, well developed flavor and not just a vinegar bomb.
