3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 danielcurtis81 (1480) - San Diego, USA - DEC 2, 2009
Served on tap at Toronados. The appearance is a grainy red with some brown notes. The flavors and aromas are a nice sour cherry with some oak tones. The mouth is nicely carbonated to carry the sour tart. A great recommendation by the bartender.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 schoolofchuck (17) - Kansas, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Dark, ruby color with beige head. Poured from the bottle to a tulip. Aroma is like the sour section of a candy shop. Grape candy(not real grape), and tary, giving off more of a processed candy aroma than traditional sweets. Taste is sweet until the sour patrol hits you seconds later. Unique and unlike anything I’ve ever tasted with the label "beer". Almost like a liquid version of warheads or shocktarts. Gone in minutes it drinks so easily. Uniqueness overall defines this brew. DO NOT drink it too cold. Let it open up a little in the warm air. The relevance makes it difficult to compare to anything I have ever tried in terms of beer.

Draft at Southern Brewing in Tampa. Pours a clear, reddish amber color with a small beige head. Aroma is amazing with the perfect amount of sourness. Flavor is outstanding! Truly delicious.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Delirium (591) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 25, 2012
On tap at Roebling Tea Room in Brooklyn. Pours clear red, a sort of bright cherry-red veering into mahogany. Aroma is sour berries, hint of funkiness, and some miscellaneous other notes I can’t quite pin down. Flavor is dominated by the sour/tart/acidic notes, which are a complex mixture of fruit-tartness, lactic sour, even some lemon-ish acidity. Quite a bit of fruit sweetness just behind that. Pretty nice.
4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 oobawa (582) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Powerful sour in this bottle, with a whole slew of delicious puckering face-slapping tastes. Starts with a sweet cherry lean, one that turns green and envious rather fast, with a sour apple middle that rolls into a tart, rich, deeply-oaked finish. The oak and sourness linger on the palate for ages, despite a rather brisk carbonation. A modest funky note begins to show as the beer warms, but it brings with it a fruity sweetness that rides an old leather saddle. Not a pretty beer, but absolutely wonderful nonetheless.

Bottle at home, from my Minneapolis Town Hall glass. I probably walked past this unassuming little bottle 5 or 6 times when I was Zipp’s, really glad Tyler pointed it out to me as I wouldn’t have picked it up without his recommendation. Pours deep ruby/brown,with a thin off-white head, and poor lacing. Nose is leather, tart cherries, funk, acid, demerara sugar, rum, and preserved fruits. Flavours are bracingly sour, but not acetic or over-the-top; lots of cherry, strawberry, funk, leather, semisweet in the mouth, then very drying as it moves into the finish. Like a better Duchesse.

OK - Im a dark beer lover, but the wife is gone for two weeks, and im trying to expand my horizons a bit. This was not the ticket apparently. The smell was ok, and i can definitely taste the cherries, etc. Has too much of a ’bite’ though...strong vinegar, and not enough balance. I wouldnt say it was filtered through a jock strap, but it wouldnt be a stretch. I guess it’s a highly acquired taste.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Benzai (2704) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - MAY 15, 2012
33cl bottle thanks to Dutchdrebus. Dark red-brown color, small off-white to beige head. Smell pretty sour, vinegar, lightly fruits. Taste is very sour, vinegar, tart. Not dry sour and some sour fruityness is clearly present as well. Medium body, low to medium carbonation. Too much sharp sourless for me though.

Bottle @ home. Amber to red-brown colour with a head that is quickly gone. Smells very sour, cellar, brett, slightly dusty. Tastes sour, very fresh, red fruits, also some sweetness. Not bad! Gopd carbo, full body. Slightly dry in the aftertaste.
