JDW, Stansted Airport. My first ever Boddington cask and I’m very impressed. I fully expected it to be as bland and low quality as the keg, but the "new" cask version is really quite excellent. Delicate floral hops - very fresh with a scintillating tingle of dust. O my!

First tasted this bitter way back in the late eighties and was quite popular in many pub group eateries in central Scotland. A bit rarer to find now though? Tasted this in the Hungry Monk, Lochwinnoch in May 1990. Cask, handpump dispense. Sparkling clear gold in colour with a very thick creamy white head. Slight aromatic hop aroma and good refreshing mouth feel. Sweetish taste which continues through into the mellow finish. A good summer session ale.

easy drinking. looks like a ’proper’ pint should.
there’s not a lot going on in the flavour or aroma department. slightly bitter finish with gentle malty flavour. slides down very easily without really challenging the senses.

A light blonde ale with a really thick creamy white head, don’t see that everyday. The beer goes down well but leaves a bit of bitter orange lingering.

Draught in Holiday Inn, Reading. Only beer that looked relatively drinkable. Golden colour with thick creamy head. Some citrus nose but not much. Flavour has some malt in it.

Draft: it pours a dark, honey, yellow. Creamy with a sweetness that is almost hidden by the light bitterness. It’s a great drinkable beer.

On tap at the Sumners before going on North End. Quite bored of the older generation saying this isn’t what it was. Pale golden bitter, still a hint of the dry bitterness, god knows why they thought creamy was a good idea with this. Slips down easily enough though.

Perfectly smooth bitter, and very refreshing in the palate. Easy to drink.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 Cask in Manchester, England. Bellies full of Boddingtons. A nice pub ale. Golden colour with a creamy off white head. Mild malt and hopp aroma. Also a bit weak flavour, but easy drinkable. You can really fill up your belly.

Golden, clear, thick nitro head.......Aroma - not much here, very slight malt and hops...Taste of light malts, cereal, bit cardboardy, light bitter, slight bubblegum(?), bland......Palate - smooth, low carb. Finish - same as main flavour, very light bitter, slightly metallic.
Bland and boring but not the worst. Certainly better than the Stella I had the same night.
