Nitro-tap at a fake Irish pub downtown. Apparently the Press Room frowns upon pub golf, so instead of a nice pint of Bitburger or Union Jack, I’m stuck with this watery, almost flavorless nitro contraption beer. I actually hadn’t had this in a couple years and was genuinely curious. back then I thought it was pretty bitter and harsh. Today, it seems pretty bland and lifeless. There is a long cascading effect with a thick creamy head, but some of the nitrogen seems to be staying in suspension creating a weird cloudy look. Lightly metallic and mineral water aroma with a touch of sweetness. The flavor is lightly bitter with some mineral water and light tang. Flat and thin body with artificial creaminess. Pretty much Guinness with the roasted barley left out. Definitely not a fan.

16 oz. Widget can. Pours a lovely thick lasting head, with attrractive lacing over a clear golden (SRM10-12) body.....nose of light malts, slight spice.....taste is initially mild light malts with a gentle hop bitter finish....mouth feel is light with slight carbonation....this meets its style almost perfectly.

(can). Pours a dark yellow color. Has a creamy white head with heavy lacing. Sweet hoppy aroma. Has a light hop taste. Smooth and creamy finish, with light alcohol taste. Moderate carbonation.

Pint can. After the cascade, a medium sized off-white settles into a half-finger of nitro bubbles on top of a dark yellow body. Light grassy aroma. Every sip is initially very watery but fills in a bit with light bitterness, grass, and a little sweetness. Medium body. Just not much going on. Had a can lying around so why not?

A wonderfully creamy pub ale, one of my old stand-bys. Nothing particularly special, but I like it.

This beer is kind of a mess, the texture doesn’t fit the taste which is nigh nonexistant apart from some bready grainy notes that would find a home better in some other less widgety affair. Metallic aftertaste doesn’t help things either.

Pint can served at 9 Irish Brother’s restaurant. Pour was initially clouded/creamy, which subsided to a thick yellow orange with a cream head. The aroma of cream and some citrus was present upon consumption. This is about as far as the cream goes, however. The flavor lacked quite a bit of the cream I was expecting, so this beer tasted more like an amber ale. Overall an average beer, but a bit disappointing for me, since I was looking forward to a cream ale.

A light bodied amber coloured beer with large head. Sweet aroma with a sweet malty flavour. Light bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel. Nothing special but not bad.
