CheersBabe (62), USA Aug 30, 2007 a decent ale for what you can find in america. the major complaint is the metalic aftertaste, but it does have a great head. worth the price Earlier Rating: 8/26/2007 Total Score: 2.5 an ok tasting ale, not bad, not good. very strong metallic taste afterward which weakens it, great head though hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA Aug 29, 2007 Very creamy, full bodied. It’s like taking three bites of a very hearty, dark bread. Filling and flavorful, and perfect for a heavy meal. cazort (413), Newark, Delaware, USA Aug 27, 2007 Updated: Aug 2, 2008On tap. Golden, very foamy, a nitrogen-like foam a lot like the head on some of the artificially-carbonated Irish stouts. A mild bitterness is present...I don’t taste any hops and I taste very little malt. The only bitterness is a mild bitter aftertaste that emerges from time to time. As the foam diminishes, the rest of the beer is not carbonated much at all and has a very thin consistency, which, combined with the lack of flavor, makes it quite watery. This brew is not terribly interesting, nor is it really that good. But it’s drinkable. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Aug 25, 2007 Nitro-tap, served in an imperial pint glass at a faux British pub.
A good looking nitro pour, clear orange hued light amber with a fluffy, thick creamy white head, good retention.
Faint aromas of apples, sweet toasted malts and floral hops.
Smooth, velvety medium body, goes down quite easily. The malts are sugary sweet, toasty and a bit thin from the nitro carbonation. Towards the end some toasted graininess comes out along with an apple fruitiness. The hops have a soft earthy, leafy bitterness and linger in the palate. Finishes dry, toasted sweet and hop bitter.
I was never a fan of nitro-can version of Boddingtons Pub Ale, but I do prefer this from the nitro-tap, more flavorful and fresher tasting.
beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Aug 24, 2007 Have had on tap in the UK and from a can in the US. Pours a golden brown with a thick, creamy head. Smells of caramel, roasted hops, and citrus. Sweet and malty pale ale with hints of orange. Thin hop finish. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Aug 22, 2007 8/22/07 From the can. Araoma is malty, caramel forward with a light roast character. Appearance is light gold with a perfect white head. Flavor is light sweet malt forward with some light fruity esters and sourness. Malt is balanced by medium bittering of musty, earthy, resiny hops. Possible diacetyl flavor. Mouthfeel is medium/light bodied with no real carb feel. Overal, a light flavored beer that always feels a little more filling and does have a bit too much mustiness and sourness.
