Pint can. Aroma is weak and appearance is a boring copper. Flavor is not bitter at all, but milky and malty and again, weak. Needs a little more carbonation as there is none perceptible to me. I hope the Brits like this stuff because to me it’s crap. Serious obective opinion, it’s crap. And nothing against the Brits, either.

Poured from tap a yellow gold with frothing bubbles settling into a medium sized cream white head. Aroma is soft with light toasted malt. Flavor follows with a soft toasted malt and a slight honey sweetness. The is a mild tartness that starts the taste but this one finish with a rather irritating brassy metallic finish. The palate is creamy malt with a light honey tang and soft tartness. Overall, an OK beer that is rather one dimensional in all things; one I go to occasionally but not often.

Pours a foamy, hazy golden color, almost like a pudding or merengue. Head is slick and foamy, similar to Guiness. Has a distinctly English aroma, english hops, wet basement, unsmoked tobacoo and cut vines. Taste is very creamy, with toffee, english hops, alcohol and sweetness. Pretty good beer, thick and different.

This is actually a re-rate. I believe that I judged this beer too harshly last time. In fact I am far more worldly and wise now. There is nothing wrong with this beer. It doesn’t taste of horse-shit and soggy tram tickets. It has suffered journmey of half way around the globe and all the temperature variations that accompany it to get into my pint glass sitting in front of me. I believe that it has held up fairly well with distinct honey overtones, lingering bitterness and a creamy nitrogenated head. I could live with having a few more.

Four-pack of cans. Absolutely terrible, I hope it was just a bad batch or poor shipping conditions. I tried not to pour them out so i tried to get my friends to drink them. They all ended up in the same place. Maybe one day when I have a stronger stomach I will give it a try on tap.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2008 From a nitro can. Pours a pretty yellow with a nice thick white head. Flavor is OK, a nice minerallly quality to the finish. Overall it’s a bit watery. Drinkable but nothing outrageous.

On tap at the Hopyard on Nitro, pours medium gold with a velvet smooth head that lingers. The nose and the flavor are a bit sweet, but overall bland.
