Clear, pale gold appearance with a large white head. Aroma of juicy fruit gum. Thin, watery palate with no definitive taste emerging from either the hops or the malts. Metallic, slightly bitter finish.

From can. Thick, golden pour with a typical creamy nitrogenated head. Very little aroma, but a touch of vanilla and stale banana cream pop is noted nonetheless. Thick creamy mouthfeel is pleasurable on the tongue, but the lack of flavor is a disappointment. A hint of sour apple and grain. Slightly stale, bitter finish.

Peculiarly popular English ale. A favourite amongst local drinkers who have realised there is life beyond lager but have yet to discover real ale. At 4.8%, it’s strong by English ’everyday pint’ standards. Sample was a can with the dreaded ’draughtflow widget’, creating a heavily carbonated creamy head. Some caramel in the nose. Creamy body with toffee and espresso notes, plus some scorched nuts and honey. From memory, it used to have a much more bitter finish. May have been toned down for the mass market. The draught beer is superior but this is still something no serious beer drinker in England would touch.

Distinct lack of flavor and aroma. What I could descern of the aroma is this: lightly malty (bread or cookies?), lightly hoppy (flowers), very lightly yeasty (earthen maybe?). Also a hint of soured milk. Has a giant creamy head - go figure - that lasts forever but doesn't lace well. Once settled the beer is a light, thin gold with little carbonation. The taste starts off a little sweet and picks up some bitterness towards the end. Finish is very short. Helluva lot better than having a BMC in the fridge.

Pours a dry ginger amber clear under a medium size very fine bubbles lasting cream coloured head. Faint bitter hops and floor polish/paint thinner aroma becoming staler as it warms. Medium creamy smooth body. Medium to light typical watery Brit bitter type palate and body. Soft buttery bitter sweet aftertaste. At least its better than the draft which I though was pretty awful

On tap

Given the choices at the ’Irish Pub’, this looked most interesting. Not really worth the $4.50 a pint but I might give it a try again at $3 or possibly even $3.50. It smelled like ripened bananas with a hint of white bread. The peristant stubborn head would not go away until the glass was almost empty. Tastewise, it was like someone blended banana pudding, vanilla and a trace of cocoa powder into a creamy mixture. The creaminess was pleasant but there should have been more to this - it was a little on the thin side in my opinion. Overall an easy drinker but don’t expect any major experiences from this one, at least not on tap (in the US)

Can poured yellow with a good white head that lasted the length of the beer. Light malty aroma with a very watery body. Flavor is kinda sweet with a bit of banana. I dont know why this is called a bitter as this beer is not bitter at all. This beer is ok, just to watery for me.
