savitska (163), Smyrna, Georgia, USA Sep 17, 2003 I'm actually surprised at how the technology of these cans creates the "fall" effect seen in actual draft versions of this beer. Boddington's holds a special place in my heart since I first drank it in a small Manchester pub the night after my wife and I became engaged. Here in the can it had the distinctive "fall", the golden color, creamy head and pleasing taste as it did then. A faithful reproduction of a worthy brand.
Ughsmash (3671), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 3, 2009 1 pint can. Poured clear orange-tinted golden with a creamy cap of nitro head. The aroma picked up wet grainy notes and floral hoppage paired with a pinch of honey and dry yeast.. kind of sticky and bland. The flavor had honey and caramel maltage at the core, showing signs of life in the form of spicy floral and earthy bitterness on the edges.. grainy character joined the honey on the back and rode through the short-ish finish. Light bodied with a sweet overall complexion on the palate.. bitterness was soft and well-balanced.. this was very easy to drink. pintocb (492), Darsville, Georgia, USA Jul 2, 2009 In a can....duh! Great head. The best thing about this beer is definately it’s mouthfeel. Very creamy. Aroma is decent; bread and some fruit. Flavor is bland. Needs more carbonation. I know it’s probably closer to a cask ale in that way, but I like fizz in my beer. The finish is so metallic I’m not sure I’ll be able to drink the other three. ketchepillar (407), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 29, 2009 Widget can. Lightly fruity, malty sweet. Enough bitterness in the finish. Has just a little of that English Bitter vomit taste. Lots of caramelly hay. Bit of a tang. A little thin & watery, but better than expected. The little bit of hop character is nice. Chimpy5 (12), Iowa, USA Jun 29, 2009 Poured from a nitro can. I comes out in a clear amber with a thin white head. To no surprise, it smells just like your stereotypical ale. The taste is very light and has some nice hints of hops, but is also somewhat watered down. No strong aftertaste, but I definitely get a lot of metallic flavors from it. Beardface (772), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jun 27, 2009 Pint can from Market of Choice, shared with my friend Goose. Pours out a clear amber with a thin, fizzy one finger head. Aroma is sweet, full of malt and some light fruit. Flavor is malty, fruity, mostly sweet but with a hint of bitter in there, also some metallic notes. Mouthfeel is pretty thin. GardenGabe (63), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2009 Pour from a nitrogen loaded can. Crystal clear amber color with a dense white head (nitrogen is nice). Smells sweat and simple. Has a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Tastes bitter with a matallic undertone. Avengedpoet (255), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 23, 2009 Sampled on nitro tap at the Cornish Pasty. Pours a very light gold with a decent head for being on nitro. Firm bitterness, light malt character/complexity (reminds me slightly of Duvel for no apparent reason whatsoever...not spicy or anything, but the pils interplay with the hops seemed similar to me). Slight fruity yeast character comes through as it warms. Fairly easy-drinking, but terribly exciting. At least it isn’t filled with adjuncts. FROTHINGSLOSH (1807), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2009 Sampled from a 16 oz nitro can this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet, tangy and fruity. The flavor was sweet, tangy and fruity though fairly mild. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy. Decent.
