UPDATED: NOV 5, 2006 Bottle, 750ml. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, unfiltered. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with a strong note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A virtual diacetyl bomb, unfortunately.

Bottle. Gusher. Very highly carbonated, everything churns in my glass. Little bits of yeast floating everywhere. Cloudy golden colour with nice, big, stable white head. Aroma is acidic/sour and perhaps also a bit malty. Refreshing acidic flavour reminding me of orange juice. This is good!

Poured clear gold with a medium, long lasting head. Slightly woody, malty aroma, with some spicy notes. Sweet honey start, with some dry fruity flavours there too. Yeasty aftertaste. Nice medium-full smooth body. I quite like this one.

Pale clear golden. Lightly oxidized aroma. Quite fizzy pour, but almost no head retention. Rather sweet, with a moderate hop bitterness. Rather bland and lifeless.

Bottled, at the Lowlander, London.
Golden with suspended debris, that didnt settle. Medium head reducing to thin. Organic honey flavour, that is sweet with rustic sourness. Strong bitter flavour muscles quickly over the sweetness.

Very tart, soured pineapple and tropical fruits in the aroma. Opaque, golden-yellow with decent cover of white head. Sour fruit continues in the flavour with plenty of honey sweetness to balance and a long, herbal finish. Acidity appears as an intermittent moodswing. Soft and bubbly with smooth mouthfeel. Im happy to have tried this one, but dont imagine Ill revisit often. Bottle sampled with MartinT and Rastacouere at Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York).

UPDATED: APR 1, 2005 Heavy honeyed mint perfume attracts but the flavor detracts from the initial curiosity...A fluffy carbonation renders lots of yeast and a sometimes bothersome acidic character, offshoot of the strong honey methinks, or possibly some green hops...A quirky gal this Bieken, an interesting acquaintance but certainly no long-term relationship potential...

Nice lasting 1cm white head. Cloudy golden body. Unexpected aroma where the honey is barely present and indeed lets the throne to this weird sour grass like huge yeast aroma. Made me think of a skunked beer in fact, not that it comes close. Hints of powder sugar, honey jar (as much the dry ceramic jar than the content), powder sugar. Strikingly dry yeasty taste. Agressive sourness, badly aged honey like. Rhubard and herbal suggestions. Like it was made with a trailorload of wheat. Slight alcohol bite. Watery texture, very lively carbonation, repelling. Left a very bad impression on me.

Bottle. Cloudy light orange with a fluffy head. Aroma is thick dry honey. Taste is less sweet than I was expecting, which is good. Dry floral finish.

Aroma is sweet honey all lthe way with some straw. Far drier than one would expect from a honey beer, with a great soft mouthfeel, and tiny bit of egg noodle doughiness and pepper. Good.
