Medium, light-cream coloured head, fast receding over fully hazy red-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Attractive mix of liqueurish notes with lactic/oud bruin sourish aromas. Hints of green leaves as holly and chocolate. As such, ideal for the holidays, I’d say. Bitter-roasted, with only a hint at lactic acid backthroat. Some yeasty features, as if not fully fermented out - which sits strange on the lactic notion. Again bitter chocolate. Not very well-bodied, spritzy MF. Long-lasting roasted features in the aftertaste. Certainly not Boelens’ worst try! It’s not obvious in which way they wanted to go, but the result is worth trying.

Countbeer (2852) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - NOV 28, 2012
Bottle: Medium sized, creamy light tan head, changes quick into a smaller but vast head on top of a murky deep darker orange colored beer. The aroma’s make a creamy mix of malts, barleys malts, caramel, toasted leaves, toasted autumnal herbs and someting malted oakyness. Taste barleys, bitters, caramel, darker fruits, prunes, raisin, grapefruit, malted barleys, toasted herbs, grass and hop tones, hint of chalk and there is some honey and yeast. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, yeast, barleys, hoppy grass and some darker fruits and herbs. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, good medium to slightly fuller body and a creamy texture. Nice.

Dark red brown beer with a thiny off white lasting head. Strong nose of peanut butter, notes of dark fruits and caramel. Still some peanut butter in the taste but not as strong as in the nose. Dark fruits again, malty sweetness but not to much. A bit thin and short aftertaste. Very good brew but maybe next time a bit more body?
