Medium, light-cream coloured head, fast receding over fully hazy red-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Attractive mix of liqueurish notes with lactic/oud bruin sourish aromas. Hints of green leaves as holly and chocolate. As such, ideal for the holidays, I’d say. Bitter-roasted, with only a hint at lactic acid backthroat. Some yeasty features, as if not fully fermented out - which sits strange on the lactic notion. Again bitter chocolate. Not very well-bodied, spritzy MF. Long-lasting roasted features in the aftertaste. Certainly not Boelens’ worst try! It’s not obvious in which way they wanted to go, but the result is worth trying.

Deep and dark brown; just a whisper of head sitting atop, like an oil slick. The aroma is at first lacquer, nail enamel, then just a hint of dark sugars. Some of the aromas are raisin/date. Charcoal and leather. Taste is more tawny dates and sugary raisins. Black licorice. Feels chalky and dry; medium-bodied.

Malty, chewy blanket of a brown beer. Little bit of choccy on the tongue; little bit fruity (like a plum); little bit of liquorice and nice candy to it. Solid and sweet – not a superstar though?

Tamelijk fruitige dubbel. Heeft een zoetige smaak met tonen van karamel, maar tegelijkertijd de frisheid en zurigheid van het fruitige. Mss niet een super geslaagde combinatie, maar zeker geen slecht biertje.

Dark brown in appearance. Aroma has quite intense sour notes. Smooth sugary sweetness in taste followed by spices and sourness. Dark fruits, light coffee and finishing up with alcohol. Full bodied. Strong malty mouth feel. Tasteful Belgian dubbel.

Helder donkerbruin bier met ruime beige schuimkraag. Ruikt zoet en kruidig met karamel. Smaak is zoet en moutig. Mondgevoel is rond met lichte koolzuur en korte zoete afdronk. Is dit een dubbel?

Bottled. A brown beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and fruits, leading to a dry finish.

Bottled 330ml (from BBF)
Deep ruby color, small off-white head. Spicey fruit cake aroma, caramel. Medium-bodied. Weird spiceyness, candy sugar and caramalt. Weird dry yeasty notes. Meh.
