Medium, light-cream coloured head, fast receding over fully hazy red-brown beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Attractive mix of liqueurish notes with lactic/oud bruin sourish aromas. Hints of green leaves as holly and chocolate. As such, ideal for the holidays, I’d say. Bitter-roasted, with only a hint at lactic acid backthroat. Some yeasty features, as if not fully fermented out - which sits strange on the lactic notion. Again bitter chocolate. Not very well-bodied, spritzy MF. Long-lasting roasted features in the aftertaste. Certainly not Boelens’ worst try! It’s not obvious in which way they wanted to go, but the result is worth trying.

Dark brown in appearance. Aroma has quite intense sour notes. Smooth sugary sweetness in taste followed by spices and sourness. Dark fruits, light coffee and finishing up with alcohol. Full bodied. Strong malty mouth feel. Tasteful Belgian dubbel.

Helder donkerbruin bier met ruime beige schuimkraag. Ruikt zoet en kruidig met karamel. Smaak is zoet en moutig. Mondgevoel is rond met lichte koolzuur en korte zoete afdronk. Is dit een dubbel?

Bottled. A brown beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and fruits, leading to a dry finish.

Deep ruby color, small off-white head. Spicey fruit cake aroma, caramel. Medium-bodied. Weird spiceyness, candy sugar and caramalt. Weird dry yeasty notes. Meh.

Schiuma caffelatte compatta, cremosa e persistente. Profumi di frutta matura a bacche rosse, leggera tostatura. Buona, da meditazione

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en iets zuur met iets van fruit. Aparte smaak voor een Abbey Dubbel, maar zeker niet slecht.

330 ml. bottle sampled. Purchased @ ALBO. Faint reddish dark furniture brown, big tanned head. Nose is faintly sour, coffee grounds, candy sugar, caramel, touch plastic, this odd sourness. Taste is oddly sour, plastic, furniture, coffee grounds, dark fruits, herbal, odd plastic, odd powdery chocolate, odd sourness. Body is a bit empty, almost touch watery. The sourness is odd, beer is a bit empty, really messy. Quite meh.

Pours a fairly clear dark brown with an inch of foam with great lacing. Smells sweet with some spice, I get cinnamon, but lots of caramel and some candi sugar. Very sweet malty without going overboard, not much if any bitterness. Some light bread. Near perfect mouthfeel. Such a smooth drinking Dubbel. It may not be the highest rated Dubbel but I enjoyed every drop.
