3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottle, 0.33 l, at De Heeren van Liedekercke) I had this beer with food that was prepared with the same beer. This dark brown beer was quite complex. Aroma had fruitiness, spiciness, hops, chocolate and malts. Palate was full bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, aniseed, spiciness, fruitiness, hops, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste had aniseed and malts. Rarely have I had beer with so many flavours that still match. I enjoyed drinking this.

On tap at the De Heeren van Liedekerke beerfest. Pours a dark red color with a medium white head. The aroma is malty and spicy. A nice flavor of smooth malts, some nutty elements, lots of dry yeast and brown sugar. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle as a gift from Joost. Medium chestnut brown, nice white head. A bit of brown sugar, nice malts, some Christmas kind of spices. Cloves come to mind. Kind of Chimay Blue-like, nothing crazy but understated and well done.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, graciously gifted to me by the folks at De Heeren Van Liedekercke. Pours a hazy caramel brown hue with a tall column of
frothy tan foam. The aroma shows a nice brown sugar and caramel malt
base, with hints of root beer, vanilla, and perhaps a dash of earthy chicory spice. Flavors follow suit, deliciously sweet with root beer-like
caramel sugars, hints of dates, and figs, with notes of balancing cocoa roast and a finishing spice profile of orange zest and earth. The palate is substantial and creamy, showing smooth up front and intensifying with fizz on the finish. This brew would be a great accompaniment to a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Tasty, tasty stuff.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at DHVL. Brown colour with lasting beige head. It’s ok, some ok malt in mouth. From the others at the table who had it I was expecting a bit more, but as I drank it, I couldn’t really discern anything other than it was a pretty decent malty Belgian ale. Which it is.

This is the Heeren Van Liedekerke house beer. It pours dark brown with a perfect fluffy off-white head and a malt aroma. The flavor is sweet mellow malt that is very balanced. A bit of carbonation and lots of floaties in the bottle.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Gift from DHVL. Bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Starts great - notes of raisins and liquorice, nicely spicy. Finish a bit weeker, modest spicy, a bit washy. All in all a good beer!
