3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 bierkoning (8099) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - APR 22, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 5, 2008 Intensely cloudy with an off-white frothy head. Much too much yeast. When pouring the beers gushes out of the bottle.
Yeasty aroma, herbal with apricot and apple. Full bodied, herbal and yeasty flavor. Buttery with licorice, some sourness, blackcurrant, cherry and chocolate. Fairly complex strong beer, but has to be improved to make a real impression.
Bottle, sold as Santabee. Dark brown color. Citrus and a hint of mint in the aroma. Citrus flavor with a hint of chocolate and mint. Not too spicy, likeable beer (7 3 7 3 13 = 3.3)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6725) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 12, 2003
Dark-brown ale. Nose of liquorice and sweets. In taste liquorice again, and a certain amount of lactic acid that doesn’t seem voluntary - sits not quite right on the balance. Very much carbonation. No new aftertaste, sweetness becomes a bit cloying.
Not exactly their best try.

First rating: 11/29/2002. Dark cloudy amber coloured beer with a small off white head. Sweet, malty, spicy aroma with hints of manure or a withered flower according to my wife. A spicy and hoppy taste. Spicy, slightly bitter finish
