Santa Bee bottle. Pours dark brown. Off white head. Nose/taste of bad sour and over ripe fruit, grape, brown sugar and toffee. Over-carbonated. Off.

On tap at Churchkey. Served in a snifter. The pour brings a beer that is dark brownish-red with a very slight head. There is a pretty good lace presence throughout. While the appearance was nice, it went straight to hell from there. After one sniff of the nose, I really didn’t know if I’d ever be able to ingest any of this, though I powered on. The nose is a really strange piney smell--almost like a chemical cleaner. There is a bit of detergent in there and also strong bleach. Pine Sol and solvent. It’s really, really bad. Finally, I take the plunge and go for a sip. All of the disgusting-ness of the nose is present, though the notes aren’t quite as pungent. Inexplicably, there is a light bit of raspberry flavor along with the pine and solvent. The feel is really bitter and a bit sour. Light body and low carbonation. This is bad, bad, bad. To sum up: "it smells like burning." Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-18-2010

Santa Bee: Aroma is very spicy and warming. A spice dominant flavour akin to a mulled wine. Quite smooth taste, low gas level. Good beer but a tad too spicy for me.

Version I had was the Santa Bee aliased one. A sour beer, the aroma reminded me of the Little One bar in Eindhoven. Some smokey flavours with a hint of cherry

Darkish brown beer. Mild carbonation. Light and sacharrin creamy start leading to coca cola and a hint of orange. Dry finish.

Draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear red color with a medium sized frothy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. A tart and tannic aroma with some citrus notes. The taste is tart berries, cranberries, cherries and some leafy notes. Medium bodied. Strongly carbonated. Good beer.

330 ml bottle. Aroma of honey, dust, grass. Dusty flavor of caramel, raisins, honey. Very dry finish. Actually very dry from start to finish, with alcohol well hidden. Expected it to be sweet, but it was very nice and clean.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, as Santa-Bee at Oud Arsenaal) The beer poured dark brown and almost clear. Its head was medium sized, long lasting and lightly brown shaded white. Aroma had cloves, malts and yeast. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were clove, spices, hops, malts, yeast and bitterness. Aftertaste was dry and malty. Ok beer but bit too spicy and also boring.

Beers of Advent, day 6 (as Santa Bee). Outrageous aroma dripping with Hubba Bubba bubblegum, undissolved strawberry jelly, a little bit of sex. If a woman was wearing a dab of this, I’d be after her. Pours jellied ruby with a slim, grey-pinkish beige drum of head. Fine and slippery with a spice-dappled oakiness, jellied red and orange fruit a little bit like a GA half the strength, strawberry flavoured confectionary, finishing biscuit. I’m guessing this may contain cinnamon, but in truth I haven’t got a clue- bonus point. What it does contain is a generous pinch of Belgian devilry. Easily the pick of my Xmas hoard to date, and the only beer that really feels like Xmas.
