3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (6726) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 8, 2003
Orangey colour, paler than 'amber' would signify. Thick white head, slowly collapsing.
Nose of citrus, iron. taste is orange rind, something meaty. Ironoxide taste, like a galvanic stream in the mouth as well as something lactic.
Mouthfeel is very light, quite carbonised without being fizzy. At the same time, there's something greasy in it. Weird.
Aftertaste only a hint of aroma of 'potiron', kind of pumpkin.
For a first of a new brewery, meant to exist on its own, more than laudable.

Bottled. Cloudy orange color, beige head, good lace. Citrus fruity aroma, very hoppy. Soft sweet start but soon citric sour, orange, very hoppy, bitter, very earthy, bit dusty, light dry. Technically very much ok but not my kind of flavors. Reminded me of Orval somehow.

Bottle, 6.5% alcohol, not 6.8%. Label only states Boerke, but it certainly looks like the amber. Hazy amber with particles and a small head. Fruity aroma, somewhat metallic. Fruity, sweet, even vegetable flavours. Spiced. Full body. Average

Nice light hazy beer with a warm-golden color and a lively bubbleling head. In the nose there are fresh aroma’s of white fruits but also hint of youghurt, yeast and malt. The taste is round with some fruit and some sweetness in it, also a hint of soup? The afthertaste turns into a vegetal bitterness.
