An overall bland ESB. It’s just not that great. I mean, if it’s the only thing on happy hour, by all means go ahead. Other than that, don’t seek this one out. Amazingly mediocre and common tasting, but on the upside, it’s not bad, or hard to drink for that matter.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Pours a clear orange with a medium frothy head. The aroma is sweet hops and pine with a little toasted malts and wheat. The flavor is very bitter, but with a fairly balance malt profile. The palate is sticky and astringent, with a lingering bitter finish. Overall, a flavorful beer, but not subtle or complex.

An amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, malty with faint hops, light chalky notes. In mouth, a nutty malt with faint German hops, like a Vienna. Boring. On tap at Mellow Mushroom Winter Park, Jan. 7 2011.

Pint at Mellow Mushroom Spartanburg. This is much cloudier than expected with an orangish hue. Aroma is mild but has grassy hints and straightforward pale malt. Hops are very modest in the flavor too but some citrus peeks out. I really thought of this as an American pale ale, it has the correct hop flavor though not a significant intensity. It’s okay for such a light ale.

On draft at mellow mushroom downtown Augusta. Not much to excite here. Decent

It’s a decent beer, but there’s nothing really too special about it. Goes great with pizza, a match made in heaven.

Sweet, slightly floral, doughy aroma. Hazed, greenish-gold. Dense almost white head. Candied (though not too sweet), medium bitter, citrus pith flavor. Medium, slightly alcoholic hop finish. A clean gel cast. On tap, Mellow Mushroom, Panama City Beach.

On tap @ Mellow in Statesboro, GA. Poured a hazy golden with a decent head, good retention. Left some good lace on the glass. Aroma of earthy hops and some bready malts. Decent hop flavors, subtle bitterness in the finish. Super drinkable. Not too shabby.

Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Malty grain aroma. A sweet malty taste with a wheat bread taste to the finish. Good warm weather beer.

on tap at MM, pours gold with a thin white head. Aroma is skunky with lots of earthy grass notes. Flavor is off, metallic grain and thin hop bitterness. Not very good.

Pleasant ale to go with pizza, calzones, or whatever suits you at the time. Mellow Mushroom does have decent food and an interesting atmosphere. The Bogart Ale has little aroma and a small head. The flavor has some spiciness with a nice blend of the hops and malts. Nothing special, but good for what it is.
