UPDATED: NOV 18, 2006 [Bøgedal nr. 44 fad] A hazy dark orange-red beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel and oranges, as well as light woody notes. The flavor is very well rounded with primary notes of straw, but also light notes of alcohol and wood, the woody notes gains in strength in the aftertaste. It has surprisingly little accent from the wood barrel aging, but I do find it a bit more rounded in the flavors than the bottle conditioned version.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Papsoe (22948) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 15, 2006
(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a a hazy pale amber with a small, off-white head. Sweetish aroma of caramel. Medium-bodied, notes of sweet caramel and a rather bitter finish. Apart from a slightly fusty edge there’s really no sign of this beer being matured in wooden casks for more than 3 months. Not a bad beer but rather disappointing that the barrelling didn’t really make any improvement. 110606
