3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, shared with my in-laws over pre-Christmas dinner. This bottle is #0136, with a small red "Christmas edition" stamped on it. It also says 2008. Light pop upon releasing the cork. Dark brown with golden brown highlights and a thin off-white head. Aroma is yeasty, with cocoa, brown sugar, spices. Bitter cocoa, brown sugar, spices, lightly peaty, anise, orange peel bitterness. This really changed over the duration of the glass, very interesting and tasty. A nice treat and a pleasure to have shared it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft from the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Espresso black pour with cafe-au-lait colored foam that is dense and creamy. Aromas of orange, coffee and chocolate, and a hint of wood and peat. Very interesting. Palate is light and lively. Tastes of coffee and orange and a good balance between sweetness and bitterness of a good acidity.
