Medium high lasting creamy light brown head. Hazy very dark red brown body. Cream coffee caramel aroma with a hint of alcohol. Roasted barley malt flavor with caramel and coffee. Fair amount of hops bitterness and orange peal in the aftertaste. Low carbonation. Long aftertaste. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 17, 2009 Courtesy of bhensonb. This dark brown ale poured with a decent tan head and a strong chocolate and alcohol aroma. The flavor is chocolate and coffee with an alcohol trail that belies its relatively low ABV. The orange peel is barely detectible. bhensonb (4180), Woodland, California, USA Aug 17, 2009 Bottle as # 127. From Monument in Concord, CA. Pours really, really dark with a decent tan head. Aromas of very dark malt with notes of citrus. Near full bodied with firm carbonation. Flavor is floral and citrus. Really, exceptionally, smooth and tasty. Finishes with a hint of orange, but lots less than expected [label said dark ale with orange peel]. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Aug 14, 2009 Bottle. #127. Chestnut brown looks with a thin off white head. Lots of sweet fruity malt along with a good hit of toffee and some balancing citric notes. Slightly herbal in the finish. Standard but likeable as always from Bøgedal.
