COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Also known as Bøgedal 177, 192 and 204.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Valkendorfsgate. This is one pricey beer, so expectations are rather high. Pours a pitch black body with a medium light brown head. Looks like a stout. Smell is, however, different: smokey leathery notes making way for ginger, pepper and herbal spiciness. Some fruit in there too, along with raisins and dark malts. Nice. Taste is very malty and deep, with some basement aromas accompanying fruity notes of sweet grapes and raisins. Complex, but with a light body and such a low ABV it’s really incredible. Solid brewing on this one.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2011 Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011 from tap: Pours a clear dark brown body with a dark green hue and a thin fading bubbly caramelly head. Light but complex aroma with notes of licorice, malts, brown sugar, caramel, thin cold coffee and a mildly woody hint. Oily mouthfeeling, it’s lively carbonated and medium to light bodied. In the flavor I find some licorice notes, dark malty and it ends medium bitter with notes of more brown sugar and some caramel. Nice brew. 7-4-7-4-15

Rerated:

0.75l bottle shared with InBreak and ClubGonzo. This Bøgis pours a dark dark brown - near black body with a small quickly sidesticking, fading and bubbly off-white head. The aroma is delicate with hops, a good dash of sticky licorice, caramel and chocolate. Soft carbonation and a nice light sticky mouthfeel. Flavors are dark malty with tones of sticky licorice, cocoa, spices - cinnamon perhaps? Ends lightly sweet-ish with a nice licorice finish. Yeah, I could get use to this. Great body on such a lov ABV beer, but I suspect that could be due to the good cellaring this one have had. 7-4-8-4-16

23-JAN-2010, botlle with Ulkløbben @Mortens. Brown, low head. It is brown ale like with chocolate and liqourice, and almost liqout-like tones. Almost no carbonation but fine creaminess. A little watery, not very bitter. Overall a little dissappointing. Come on, Kasper. Usually better:-) ...and why categorized as traditional ale? It seems like most (or all?) Bøgedal beers are categorized here.
