3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (2764) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 16, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen, shared by BBGTC. With a great big BOOM the beer comes to life as the cork sets off like a rocket, making us look with concern to the ceiling where it hit, halfway expecting to see a hole or at least a dint. Still, no gusher so it’s all good, but BE WARNED! (I’ve heard and seen several others with the same story). The beer pours a hazy, near-murky honey-hued orange body with a huge white head. Aroma is ripe banana sweetness, wheat, grains, honey and hints of citrus. Pretty mellow. Taste is sweet grainy banana tones, hints of clove and coriander. This beer has a bit of a hefeweizen and a bit of wit, so someone jokingly concluded this was a beer with a Luxembourg profile, some place where Belgium meets Germany! :-P Full bodied, and a quite nice wheat all in all.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Foffern (772) - Bodø, NORWAY - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle at home. What a pressure! The wooden cork almost killed me, but instead the light bulb above me. This results in a big frothy white head. A hazy deep orange beer. Grainy malt in the nose and fruity aromas with citrus, yeast and hint of alcohol. Sweet fruity malt flavours with some yeast and hint of orange and spices, coriander. A taste of alcohol is also present. Light bitterness, slightly sour, and feels somewhat dry in the end. Slick mouthfeel. Fresh and rich taste at the same time. Maybe too much alcohol in the taste but a pretty okay beer,
