3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (285) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 22, 2012
Bottle at home. Pours a nut brown colour, pretty hazy, with a light beige medium sized and calm head. Slightly creamy. Sweet and nut malt aroma with leather and spices. Leather also present in the flavour along with cocoa, dried fruit and some roast with hint of alcohol. Light and balanced bitter ending. Slick and silky moutfeel. A joyful beer that can easily be a companion during the Christmas days.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palme (1437) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 9, 2012
0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. Pours a near murky brownish body with a small sidesticking light beige head. Aroma is somewhat on the lower scale. Some caramel sweetness and hints of something light acidic. Soft to average carbonated with a nice oily mouthfeel. I like these Bøgedal flavors. Could be the "Perle" hops that I found interesting? It’s somewhat on the sweet side with lots of caramel-honey tones and it’s also light spicy with a acidic coffee touch that makes it all even more interesting. Some differences around the table here, but I must admit that I like it. 30.01.2012
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 ClubGonzo (1966) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 6, 2012
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a murky nut brown body with a medium off-white head. Aroma is honey, mild sour grass-like tones and nut much else. Taste is also extremely mild: some malts, hints of grass and heather honey. Filling mouthfeel, soft carbonation. OK, but this beer serves as an example of how it’s quite possible to balance oneself into utter boredom; the brew has all the evidence of many ingredients, but in the end they all seem to nullify each others presence.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Svesse (4389) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - FEB 3, 2012
(Bottle. Labelled Bögedal No 213) Reddish amber colour with brief, foamy head. Fruity nose with red fruit, caramel, toffee, orange peel and a touch of chocolate. Fruity, malty taste with notes of dark fruit, red berries (raspberries), caramel, citrus peel, a touch of chocolate and a slightly bitter-sweet finish with a touch of alcohol coming through. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. A bit different, but nice and tasty.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (9177) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - OCT 30, 2011
Bottle, 75cl corked, at Ølfestival 2011, as No 230. It’s an unclear, orange-brown beer without head. Some off-white to beige bubbles though. Caramel and some yeast in the aroma, lightly roasted. Prunes and some grassy and piney hops too. The flavor is sweet, yet dryish, with caramel sweetness, a faint yeasty touch and a decent bitterness. Medium body. Caramel and bitterness in the mostly dry finish. A decent beer I suspect will do much better with the right food pairing than on its own. 110527

0.75 l bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy dark brown color. The aromas of plum, toffee and coffee. Taste of plum, raisins, cork, wort and coffee, chocolade. Full bodied with soft oily carbonation. Surpringly strong cork aroma and flavor, too strong for me.
