"We cannot brew this fast enough for our Yorkshire customers. A classic Porter with a smooth roast finish, complemented with a subtle hop after-taste."

Mid dark brown pint with a decent head. Taste is fairly standard burnt malts, sweetness and caramel, mild bitter finish. Ok but unexciting.

A Mes rate: Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Red brown colour. Simple aroma but with some lovely coffee malt that continues over into the flavour with a nice and creamy bitter hop finish. Little on the watery side or it could be excellent. Enjoyable mellow porter.

Cask, Birmingham Fest 05. Very dark brown with a small head. Aromas are sweet and earthy and lightly floral, a touch oaty, too. Flavours are sweet, earthy roast malts with chocolate and berry fruit. Has a nice gently carbonation. Dry towards the finish. Decent stuff.

This is a beer with a little bit of everything, but not a lot of anything, if you know what I mean. Yep, it prompted that is it a stout/porter/mild debate in my head too(I would have gone for stout incidentally, not that that matters). Black, with a hint of red. Sweet with a hint of bitterness. Roast malt, with a hint of fruit. Dark chocolate, with a hint of coffee. Smooth with a hint of acidity etc etc. It might sound like a bit of a mish mash but its all pretty well integrated and refined. But, in the end, it doesn’t quite deliver the knockout punch. Mustn’t grumble though. Cask (handpump), Crown Inn, Bacup.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Head of Steam Euston. A bit of sour fruit in the aroma oof this very dark brown porter. A good roasty taste with a bit of coffee.

Hand pulled at the Head of Steam, Euston, with Joeh and Maeib. I had this down as a pretty flavoursome Mild, though as previously mentioend, it is getting harder to tell the difference. Nice roasty aroma, with a dry coffee flavour initially, finding some sweet water afterwards. Nice blend easy drinking.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2005 On draught hand pump from The Babington in Derby (during the Wetherspoons Octoberfest, though not a beer that was part of the fest it’s self) Dark brown/Black in colour. Pretty Vinegary & it had only been on for 2 or 3 days so shouldn’t have gone off. Very disappointing. re-rate Straight from the Cask at the Chesterfield Beer Festival on 04/02/05. A bit better this time - but not much - 8/20 this time

Gravity, Reading Beer Festival. Dark creamy velvet vanilla stout with a gentle but refreshing mouthfeel. Coffee mingled with diacetyl toffee. Very pleasant. One of the better beers at the festival. Saturday was slightly warmer than the Friday, so the beers were fractionally more developed. I had this down as a stout. Mild, Stout, Porter - they all seem to merge into the same beer most of the time.
