Cask Third of a Pint at GBBF 2013, Olympia, London Aug 2012 - Dark Brown in colour. Perfumed taste and lots of vanilla. Malty; roasty malts, chocolate, vanilla. Fruity. Hoppy; spicy hop. Sweet fruity malty throughout. Very perfume and vanilla; or is that the "hint of dark rum". Drinkable, but unusual or do I mean odd?

Cask at the Micro Bar, Manchester, September 2013. Opaque dark brown with cream head. Rummy, vanilla and toffee aroma, rum-dominated taste, sweet and alcoholic - rum is too apparent. Medium body, rum-like finish.

The aroma and flavour have some dark malts and sweet dried fruits. There’s an extra sweet finish as the hit of rum kicks in.

On cask in liverpool. Really nice and drinkable porter, not overly roasty.but good malty flavor with some roast. I don’t really get any rum. First porter ive had on cask.

Very sweet, strong taste of rum but not overpowering. Completely my sort of beer, strongly recommend trying it on tap if lucky enough to get the chance. More available around Liverpool and Manchester

(cask) pours a very dark ruby-brown colour with a creamy beige head. aroma of roasted malts and hazelnuts, milk chocolate, caramel and banana. flavour is mostly the same, toasted malts and hazelnuts, with a hint of raisins and a slightly tart finish. light to medium-bodied with soft carbonation.

Poured a reddish brown with a thick off white head. Aroma of plum and sweet caramel malt over the underlying rum base. Medium to full body, flavour is a heavy alcoholic sweetness and a heavy, lingering sweet finish.

Tasted on tap @Microbar, Manchester on 31/20/2012. Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny head. Aroma is quite faint, could fell only notes of roasted barley. Mouthfeel is pretty good, very silky, with modest carbonation. Taste comes slightly sour at first, then following by a roasted character. Aftertaste is quite long, very silky and roasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 Cask @ Vernon Arms, Liverpool 030113
Very dark ruby, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma - dark caramel malts, soft fruity rum, dark sugars, some raisin
Taste as aroma, rum is evident, bit spicy, pretty decent
Palate - thinnish body, bit sticky. Finish a little dry, some soft rum but not too much
Overall - Well this was a totally different beer to the vile muck I drank in Newcastle. 0.7 > 3.4 is a BIG BIG jump up.

Cask @ Brandling Villa 080912 2/2/1/1/1 0.7
Dark ruby, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma - burnt astringent dark fruits, odd smell, i’m not liking this at all
Taste - burnt fruits, dark fruits, uurrrghh, alcohol, hint of rum, oh this is awful, odd yukky taste, this is f-g awful, unbalanced, undrinkable, really vile
Palate - very low carb, thinnish body. Finish - weird burnt plasticy dark malts, awful
Overall - I could only manage 3 sips of a 1/3 pint. Nasty. Uurrrgrgghh. Worst beer I’ve ever had.
