Tricky Mexicans, call the beer "Bohemia" which is German, and throw ole Montezuma the 3rd on the bottle and copy NEgra Modelo.... sounds like Money, tastes almost as good a NM, but not quite, good at MExican restuareante.

Clear and golden in color with a thin lacy head. Smells of hops, citrus, grains, corn, and malts. Taste is weak with light hops, grains, corn, and malts. Thin body.

I was for 2 weeks on a holiday in Mexico. I taste several local beers. First of all I’ll give a general personal opinion. All the beers were served to cold. There was no, or almost no foam. If you ordered a beer, you always have to ask for a glass, which is also very cold. Always there was a lemon in the bottle. If you like it and put the lemon in your beer, than every beer would taste almost the same, because of the strong taste of a fresh lemon. The temperature in Mexico makes it understandably to serve cold beer. But you loose the real taste of the beer. A nice, clear yellow colored beer, wih a little white head. The aroma has some bitterness and is hoppy. The taste is dry bitter. I first thought about a Belgian Saison. In the back a smooth beer. Not bad. I think one of the better Mexican beers I tasted.

Suprisingly, I haven’t rated this beer, even after having it hundreds of times at various Mexican themed taquerias over the years. It’s probably one of my favorite Mexican beers, so I went and got a sixer to share w/ my brother and rate. Very easy to get this and Modelo Negro mixed up because the bottles and labels are very similar. The beer poured out a dark golden yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aroma is sweet malts and a touch grainy. The beer feels really nice in the mouth, almost coating yet not. Suprised to see myself typing this with Mexican swill, but...call it as I see it I say. Flavor has a very light toffeish character too it, which went really well with the grainyness in the beer. It had an almost ceral like aftertaste. Very easy to drink, I really do enjoy this beer with a nice plate of shrimp enchiladas with chile verde on the side.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2008 5/16/08 from the bottle. This had almost no aroma. It is clear gold with no head. Flavor is tangy, almost lemony and is very dry; not too sweet for a Mexican brew. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a fairly strong carb bite. 9/20/08 From the bottle. Aroma is light pils malt forward with a slight noble background. Appearance is clear yellow with a low white head. Flavor is sour, somewhat caramel malty, with a medium metallic carbonic bittering. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, easy drinking but too simple, and the malt flavor strength, while refreshing, is a little strange for the style.
