UPDATED: JAN 31, 2004 Decent for a Mexican lager. Malt aroma followed by a malty, slightly sweat taste. Smooth, little hop bite or bitterness to it. Very drinkable if unremarkable. Up there with Dos XX in my book for best of the Mexican.

Pours a very light straw color with a thin white head. Smooth and malty. Nice full mouthful...kind of syrupy with little carbonation. Very good with mexican food.

Had one of these at the bar while waiting for my table at El Palomar in Santa Cruz - Get the fish taco's (don't ask me the name...I don't speak spanish...just look for the one with Red Snapper in the description. This pours from the bottle a light straw yellow. The average fizzy white head is crap. The nose hints at sweet rolls. The flavor is sweet and floral. No someone at the bar must have offended the finish because he didn't show. Light watery and soft. This was the worst beer I had while in Cali. If this is a Pilsener, I'm John C. Holmes. This is garbage, and should be listed as an American Standard.

(bottle) It was beer, I drank it. It is another lightish beer of the mass produce kind, though I tended to like it more than most of the macro swill.

Color is golden yellow and a bit pale with a white head that went out fast leaving some patchy lace. Smells of lightly done malt with faint hop. Taste is mostly sweet malt, very clean with barely a hop noticed. Feel is medium bodied and easy, smooth and refreshing. This is a better Mexican lager then most.

Straw color with a centimeter of tiny white bubbles forming a lid. Very floral and pale malt aroma. Light sweet maltiness coupled with a powdered sugar-sweet floral hops flavor. I dislike this one the least of the sixer of lagers sampled this evening. A little salty in the finish. Otherwise drinkable and refreshing in a south of the border kind of way. There is actually a light malt linger that I've missed in this night session.

I picked up one of these mistaking it for "Negra Modelo" (don't ask). Not bad. But not good either.

Anything is better than Corona. This is maltier than typical lagers. Tastes like it could be a vienna style, but isn't quite as sweet, dark, or malted as many of those brews. Similar to Negra Modelo, only with more hops. This is well balanced and quite drinkable.

My goodness, another macro swill beer that actually turned out much better than expected. Very typical pilsneresque pour with a soapy white head and a clear, slightly carbonated light yellow appearance. The aroma lends hints of corn, wheat, plastic, skunked hops from the icky brown bottle, and lime. The flavor actually is mildly attractive in that there is no corny sweetness which in itself is pleasant. It consists of a mild wheaty, very slightly corny and limey flavor. Unfortunately it leads into its usual macro swill ending which is dry, cardboardy and wet maltiness. Overall i think i expected this to be much worse, but it really was acceptable for a readily available import. Carbonation levels are not crazy..they are held in check fairly well. Another beer down from Femsa....

Compared to most other Mexican brews, this is quite good. Although still on the light side, this tastes adjunctless and has decent malt and hop flavor.
