Rated 3/16/13. 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Smith pint glass. A: Pours a lighter straw color with a good bit of translucence to its body. The head is a two finger white shade. Bubbly as can be, it fades away quickly, and doesn’t leave much lacing on the glass, either. S: Grains and light maltiness, about what I expect from a Mexican lager. Oh, and some noble hops. Gee, imagine that, noble hops in a lager! Whodathunkit? I also notice some tart lemon/lime qualities. T: The lime tone in the aroma moves down to the tongue, supporting a sweet malt base and faint yet zesty hop bite. Adjunct notes are thankfully kept in check. Simple as can be, but it just works so well with what it has. M: Light and crisp. Carbonation isn’t overbearing, and it’s superbly drinkable. O: This isn’t just good for a Mexican lager - it’s a legitimately good beer, period. Merely drinking this makes me think about 78F sunny days laying on the patio without a care in the world. This beer has just given me A) a go-to in Mexican restaurants, B) something to buy for non-beer-drinking guests when hosting a party, and C) something to actually enjoy besides margaritas should I ever end up vacationing in Cabo San Lucas.

This Mexican beer is sold in a small plump bottle which I actually think is a nice shape, nice label and a dainty gold collar. Unfortunately foaming is not available and the smell is very limited, smells only of little citrus and hops. The taste is initially marked by citrus and in the beginning it taste really quite good. Later, the taste is a little watery with hop flavor. It has virtually no fullness and no special traits. I can not think of anything as it could be recommended for. Boring, boring, boring. Unfortunately!

Very sweet and hoppy aroma. Yellow color with some light brown tinge possibly due to malt. Not enough hops but the sweetness is not overpowering, probably since it’s not super strong. Slightly better than the other beers by Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma. Better than Corona but then again that is Corona. Worse than Modela Negro.

12 oz fancy botlle. Not fancy beer. Instead, what we have here is a below average pilsner style beer with mild aroma and flavor. Certainly more interesting and flavorful than, say, Corona Light, but the blend of earthy hops, light malts (and corn?), is not the best combo. Medium-light body with medium carbonation.

Bottle - Light grains and a touch of skunk. Clear gold with a decent white head. Some citrus orange peel notes and a light bitterness. Not bad.

This simple lager is surprisingly good in a market that has demoted pale lager to Z division beers. Nice golden pour with medium white head. Hoppy aroma and taste is rich and crisp with a full hoppy ending. Nice.

Rated based on notes taken 21 June 2012 -- This is pretty decent for a darker cerveza.

Who knew Mexicans were brewing a Pilsner this good? This pours straw colored with medium carbonation and a thin white head. The nose is equal parts light grassy malt and aroma hops. The body is light and crisp with a refreshing bite of hops on the end. Overall, I doubt the average drinker could distinguish this from Staropramen, it is that similar to the lighter Czech pilsners.
