An export lager, garnet in colour, with a clean roasted malt flavour that provides a full round bodied taste. A beer shaped by history and age-old traditional Czech methods.

What appeared to be great in aroma and appearance just fell down with the taste and palate. Kind of a very weak watery taste, not full bodied, with some strange bitter finish. Not impressed, as I’ve had very high hopes for the Bohemia Regent brand (their President beer is in a totally another league for me, but on the good side). This could very well be my worst dark beer I have ever drinked. Definitely not worth to be called a premium beer I think.

50ml bottle from work. Dark brown/black, deep ruby colour. Quite sweet. Molasses, brown sugar, grass, raisins, granola, coffee, slightly roasty, but the lagering(?) makes it really moreish and surprisingly quenching. Something about the mouthfeel I really enjoy - thin, but creamy, with good carbonation. Definitely NOT a porter. If you drink one Schwarzbier in your life, make it this one.

Quite nice bit sharp roasted malts, light coffeeish, caramel bit grassy hops, moderate to light sweetness, moderate bitterness. Nice balance, decent, but nothing fancy

Dark brown, almost deep ruby color. Lighter than most of dark lagers. Forms low stable head. Carbonation is just perfect for this style and I would call it medium high. Aroma is subtle with hints of caramel and toasted bread. Taste is quite clean and balanced with light roastiness and raisins and almost earthy character in the background. Hops are well balanced. Wery light and watery for me although well balanced and easily drinkable. A pleasant surprise.

Fluffy malts and cola sweetness. A decent but really not fantastic brew. Light body and consistent malty sweetness, sorta one sided, but at the same time not bad.

Pours dark brown, topped with a fairly small beige colored head. Mild roasty aroma, with some hardly noticeable caramel presence. Taste starts sweet and roasty, some caramel and very gentle bitterness. Not a bad one, though could be a bit better.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark brown, single finger off white head. Aroma of hamster cage....Taste of heavy malts, then some wheatiness, hint of hamster cage throughout. Toffee, caramel, toasty malts, not sure whether they mix with the Wheat too well. Ok brew.

50 cl bottle from Liviko Alcostore in Tallinn (€ 1.20 (€ 0.62 in Lithuania - really?)). BB 12.10.2015. Dark chestnut colour; head’s light beige, retains nicely and leaves very little lacing. The aroma is rather weak but trying hard I get nuts and berries, caramel, roasted malts, motor oil, hops. Lots of unripe red berry bitterness in the taste, also almost too much roastiness and slight caramel. Sweet malts dominate. Finishes quite bitter. Body medium. Active carbonisation. Does really not feel like a mere 4.4%. Lots of flavor, although I reckon it’s a bit unbalanced towards bitterness - not that I mind. Very different from the German Dunkel I had earlier. Seems I like my dark lagers well hopped and sweet, with real hops while at it. Would happily drink it again.

Bottle purchased at Sainsbury’s, London, UK. A nice, flavourful tmavy. Hops are present and accounted for, yet sweetness is there, too. Would drink again.
